Fantasmic before or after fireworks?

Both Fantasmic and Fireworks are only being offered one night of our trip. I would like to do both. Fantasmic times are 9pm and 10:30pm. Fireworks are 9:30pm. We are planning to get the Hungry Bear on the go Fantasmic package but I'm trying to decide on the first or last show. It will be just two adults so I'm not worried about being up too late.

Will I be disappointed not seeing the fireworks from in front of the castle if we do the first show? Will I have enough time to watch the fireworks from main street and get to Fantasmic early enough for a great spot if we do the second show? Is it better to do the first show so we can have a couple later hours to get on more rides instead of watching Fantasmic when I would guess the parks start to die down crowd wise?

Any opinions or thoughts would be much appreciated!!

They will play the projections on the Rivers of America also, so you can hold the same place. It is a different view, but it isn't bad.

Based on your trip dates, I'm going to guess that the fireworks show will be "Mickey's Mix Magic" or another smaller production. In which case, there is a good chance that projections may be shown on the weeknights when there are no pyrotechnics. So you might still be able to catch the projection effects on Main Street or on the IASW facade or on the castle on the other nights of your trip. For F!, we like doing the first show and staying in the viewing area for fireworks on the ROA. That is more relaxing for us than trying to move with the horde out of NOS toward Main Street (and the chances are slim that you would get to a good spot in time for fireworks -- that horde moves slowly!). It is possible to view fireworks from Main Street and move purposefully to the F! check in for the second show (we've done it and had very good viewing), but for MMM (if that's the show during your trip), I'm not sure the stress would be worth it. YMMV.

Yes the show is Mickeys Mix Magic. Thank you for the insight. I like the idea of only having to stake out a spot once. I just wasn’t sure if the fireworks view from that spot is decent.

If Fireworks is running, we always try and do the early F! so we get a 2 for 1 with F! and Fireworks back to back. While you miss the Castle, it can be a great view and they pump the music and projections through the F! systems so it is still a great experience IMO.

Do guests line up/stake out spots for this show? Couldn't find too much info on it and it looks pretty neat to me!

Back this past summer we did the F! package through BB for the 1st F! They announced before it started to remain in our spots for the fireworks right after and the projections would be shown on the River. The place cleared out quite a bit which made it nice to the the fireworks with out being overly crowded.

Oops, just realized my earlier post doesn't have the quote attached! I meant to quote

to ask specifically about Mickey's Mix Magic without pyrotechnics. Do guests line up/stake out spots for this? Couldn't find too much info on it and it looks pretty neat to me!

In general, my experience has been that there's not much of a crowd lining up for MMM without fireworks - in my opinion, it doesn't stand by itself that well without the pyrotechnics, and I get the sense that many people feel that way, hence people not staking out spots. Then again I haven't stuck around for MMM in this latest iteration of the show and am judging mostly by its last run a couple months ago.

That sounds great to me! We're actually fans of projections without fireworks since our cousin has always been a little uncomfortable with the 'booms'. We we were able to see the castle projection show AFTER fireworks at MK a couple years ago and it was perfect (except for the rain).

Thanks for the info - no need to camp out an hour early!

The other great thing about "Projections Only" nights is that the rides in FL don't have to close down. So you can still ride PP and the other rides that usually take a fireworks break! You can ask CMs at the Information Kiosks whether it will be a projections only night -- they'll know whether FL will have to take a break or not.
