So this is my first visit to DLR in 10 years. I haven't seen either one of these so I want to get prime seating for both. Can you tell me/show me about the dessert thing offered for Fantasmic!? And what about the WOC picnic?

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

You can find out about both of these in these links below. On the WoC one just read the first post and then skip to the last couple pages because it has changed over time, but the OP is current.

We did the World of Color Picnic meal last summer and the meal itself wasn't all that good. It was a cold fried chicken meal. I didn't eat it, but for the price it's worth the seating. I got be up close to the show and was an excellent viewing of the show. So, to me it was just like paying to see the show and was well worth it. Both fantasmic & WOC are amazing. A must see.

Hmmmm...I also purchased the WOC picnic on my last trip. Like GenGen said, the food wasn't spectacular. I also had the chicken dinner. It was okay. But it didn't really get us a great viewing spot. We had to line up over an hour early anyway, so it doesn't save you any time. The picnic comes with a Fastpass, just like the free Fastpasses you can get from the machines. Ours were blue. Because we walked quickly to the viewing area once they let us in, we did get up to the front of the rope, but the angle was not very good. Anyone behind us would have a terrible view!
So I guess it totally depends on which area you get a Fastpass for, and how quickly you walk to that area. On our next trip, I'm just getting the free Fastpasses and going to a late show to try for a better spot.
They do have sit-down meals that include passes to the Preferred Viewing area, but it is really expensive, and you still have to stand. No seats for anyone!

Fantasmic, on the other hand, has the dessert box Preferred Seating area. It is expensive ($60 for adults I think), but the fact that you get a seat with a great view makes it worth it to me. We are doing this on our upcoming trip.

We just came back from DL and got the dessert package for F!. It was pricy but ultimately, I think it was worth it. It was our first time watching the show. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that we purchased the "reserved seating" tickets and you have to get in line to reserve your seat. The show started at 9 and they didn't hand out assigned seating until 8pm so we were in line for a while. Our kids ended up taking their naps really late so we had nothing else to do and so we eneded get getting in line at 6pm. We were first in line which was fine because I was also able to set up my camcorder for the show too.

The dessert is nice but it was a little much but it did offer a nice variety and the free drinks was nice too. Really, what you're paying for is all that but primarily a great viewing area that's not crowded. It's an elevated view and you're sitting in chairs.

We've done it and I don't think we would pay for it again because it is expensive but my kids really liked the show so i'm glad we did it.

As for WOC, I haven't been yet. We do have dinner reservations at Ariels and hopefully, it's early enough where we'll finish and we'll be first in line again. My plan is for my family to get up to the railing so they have an unobstructed view and I'll go to the back and set up my camcorder again.

GL.

If you get a great view is upto how you arrive, not what color ticket or area. Please look at the WoC superthread. The key of a great view is to know where they are seen from, and it can be had from any zone of Paradise Park.

The OP was asking specifically about the WOC Picnic. I was giving my feedback about the WOC Picnic, and the viewing spots that can be had by purchasing a WOC Picnic.
Thanks for your advice though.

What about someone in a wheelchair? My mom will be in an ECV?

She will still need to get a Show Ticket from any method listed in the superthread. Toward the end of the superthread are newer pictures showing where the HCA spots are.

What I want to point out to everyone is it doesn't matter, how you get the ticket, that will not relate to the experience at the show. And that no matter which zone you are in, none guarantee a good or bad view.

Using a meal package will get you fed. Knowing strategy will help you get the best view at WoC.

Ok... then what is the best strategy? I want to make sure we get a good view. Is there a best section? :confused3

If you will take a few minutes to read the WOC Superthead that Ski provided a link to it really, truly answers these kinds of questions.

What the picnic meal WILL do though is get you a FP for that night's show when you can't be to that park early enough to get one through normal distribution. Right?

What is the latest time that you can still get the free FPs for WOC?

Right. That is the main advantage. A guaranteed FP no matter when you arrive.

When I was there last week I was told by CMs at the FP machines that not all the FPs were being distributed. That had been happening for at least a week. In other words, they never ran out of FPs.

As a result they allowed walk-ins to the second show.

I would not bank on the above but in a pinch I would try it.
