We went to DL 2 years ago and Fantasmic was closed due to POTC premiere.

We are going next month and would like to know, do you sit for the show or does everyone stand up?

We did the fireworks in front of the castle and everyone stayed seated, it was so nice to have a great view sitting down.

I know all the debating going on about the Reserved seating and really don't want to pay for the show, so please just a answer about the seating or standing for fantasmic, I assume you still sit for the fireworks in front of the castle.

Thanks for any answer!

The area near the water is sitting only. The area further back is standing only. If there are two showings of Fantasmic then you can get a sitting spot usually 30-45 minutes before.

We thought we would get there around 1hr early.
We will be going to the first show since DS is 9 and won't make it till the 10:30 show.

Thanks for the answer.

It depends on where you'll be located. If you're early (or lucky) enough to snag a spot right on the riverbank, you'll be able to sit and watch the show. Otherwise, you'll pretty much have to stand. Because there'll be hordes of people standing in front of you. :)

If you want a sitting spot for a 9PM show I would plan to get there 2 hours early.

I agree. That's why I don't do the earlier showing any more. It's worth taking a break or nap mid afternoon, so your son can stay up later for F! My DS is 8 and usually an early to bed sort. A few weeks ago, though, he was able to stay up for the fireworks and then Fantasmic- and was SO glad he did! He even got a second "wind" after that, and was still rarin' to go when we left DL at 11:30 (DD, age 11, was "dying" by then hahaha). We sat down around 10 and were the second family from the water. AWESOME viewing. Go over just past the middle of ROA, moving toward Haunted Mansion. Much more readily available "seats" there.

If you are staying on site, I strongly recommend a nap during mid afternoon, so he can stay up. I personally hate "wasting" 2 hours sitting by the water just to have a seat that a child can see easily from, JMHO. When we've tried standing, it's inevitable that some bozo comes and stands right in front of us as the event begins. :headache:

Have fun and don't miss it!

when we went to DisneyWorld 3 yrs ago, our girls were 2 1/2 and almost 6. The day we did extra magic hours at night we were able to stay past 1 a.m. easily with both of them, and my girls are strict go to bed at 7:30 pm kids. We just took a late nap that day, like from 2 pm to 5 pm and then went back to the park. Both girls were bright eyed and wide awake till midnight when the younger one crashed finally.

So, don't discount the later show time!
