I am taking my 84 year old mother to WDW in early December. She is frail and in a wheelchair, but has been to WDW one other time last Thanksgiving with me and loved it. I am trying to figure out if taking her to Fantasmic would be enjoyable for her. She has mild dementia and has trouble following any type of complicated theme, and is somewhat like a toddler in her reactions as she can get frightened by things that are overly stimulating, complex or she doesn't track well. I've never seen the show so it's hard for me to judge. Plus, I don't want to try to cram too much in. For those of you who have seen Illuminations, Wishes and Fantasmic, can you give me any input as to which two she might be most likely to enjoy? (She and I have only seen the fireworks at the MVMCP last year and she enjoyed those quite a bit.) Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would skip Fantasmic & definatly go with Wishes, and maybe try Epcot's Illuminations instead.. at least she will enjoy all of it's fireworks....

I second that. The first half of Fantasmic is easy to follow and wonderful to see; however, there is quite a scary finale to the show. Spectacular, but if someone is susceptible to scary images, I'd find something else.

How about Illuminations?

I agree with Wishes or Illuminations. Both of those can be enjoyed without having to "follow" a story. Fantasmic is a bit harder to explain.

We took my MIL to WDW in December '04. She is a little younger than your mother but also has mild dementia and sometimes reacts like a toddler to stimuli. She loved Fantasmic! What made the evening even better was that we saw the Osbourne Lights after Fantasmic. MIL also enjoyed the CP and a birthday dinner that evening at the GG. She adored the interaction with the all the characters. Be sure to bring warm clothing for your mom- even for us hearty Wisconsinites the December Florida evenings can get chilly.
