I just saw a few pics on another website of the World Showcase Pavillion open as Fantasia restaurant over the very busy holiday week. I didn't know this pop-up dining option existed. Has anyone ever been? What's the menu like? Do they always open around Christmas, or is it only when the crowds are completely insane?

They only do this on New Year's Eve.

Back when they had an Easter brunch in the World Showplace (it's been discontinued) I went one year, and they had it nicely decorated and there were characters, but the food ranged from mediocre to lousy, so I don't think I'd do one of these buffet style catered things again.

World Showplace is a convention center with cooking facilities. For some occasions Disney will have pre-resereved meals there. Usually it will be a buffet.

Thanks for the info! I didn't know this was a convention space.

The World Showplace is located between Canada and Great Britain.

Is it that big blue building behind where the Characters in Training do meet & greets? We came across this place after lunch at Lecellier one day, and we never got a chance to ask what the big blue building was!

Yes, that's it! Was first opened as Millenium Village and many extra WS countries had exhibits during the millenium celebrations. It's very big and can accomodate large groups and events.
