HI
this is a odd question but here goes.....
I sleep terrible without some white noise at night.
At home we have a ceiling fan and a air purifier that blows all night.
Does the poly have ventilation fans in the bathroom (those make a nice white noise) or can you adjust the blowers on the AC to be on all night with just recirculated air?
I have a noise machine I travel with but really prefer the noise of a fan or such.

I believe all the moderates and deluxes have ceiling fans. The values don't, but they have bathroom fans (on a timer, though, so you'd have to keep getting up and resetting it if you want it all night) as well as AC units you can put on fan. These units will run all night and are not on a timer.

I bought a 'sound' machine at Target that makes white noise (along with: surf, rain, heartbeat... ) to take with us when travelling. It does help us sleep.

If I recall correctly, the central ventilation system at the Poly isn't very loud. The moderates have the in-wall units, which tend to be louder.

Like you, I prefer the sound of a fan over white noise. I highly recommend the "Sleep Sound" unit from Hammacher Schlemmer. It is very compact and features a small fan blade that forces air though slots and holes built into the housing. It is so effective, I usually skip right over any posts dealing with noise at the resorts!

the poly has the in the wall unit with a thermostat. which you can set to on/auto. obviously, if you keep it 'on' the fan will continue to run while the compressor turns on/off when it needs to. last time we were there...the thing was so loud we had trouble sleeping!

another fan fan here and I also take a noise machine but have to admit its not as good as a fan. Thanks for the tip Brenner965

Do you know if the YC have extra fans that can brought to the room. DH and I will be coming in from Colorado, where it's already snowed, and I have a feeling that he and I will be roasting.

Each year I buy a box fan as soon as I arrive in Orlando for about $10-15 at the nearby Super K or WM. I either leave the fan behind when we check-out, or call goodwill to p/u the fan as a donation. I fly to WDW, so bringing it back home is not an option. The ceiling fans, bathroom and A/C in the resorts just are not strong enough for me. I prefer the nice, pacifying WHIRR of a portable fan. Even at home, with big hunter c-fans, and central A/C blowing, my portable fan MUST be running to drift off to sleep. The sign of a BUSY mind. ;)

Rooms at the Poly have a ceiling fan....or at least the ones in Rapa Niue and Hawaii do. The bathrooms have ventilation fans but they run in conjunction with the light if that is an issue for you. The sounds of fans used to KEEP me awake!

I'm a fan-fan too and it's nice to know I'm not alone. As I'm typing this, my box fan is running in the background. I too buy a box fan on vacation and then leave it behind. It's the only way I know to get a good night's sleep!! Thanks for sharing. It's good to know there are other's just like me out there (all of us women I'll bet!!). We leave in 17 days for our 20th anniversary at DW and I'm so very excited. It's been 12 long years since we've been so I'm more than ready!
