Fannypack or backpack??

I'll have a backpack that can cold quite a bit but hopefully it wont be too full with heavy items. Cameras, ponchos, couple water bottles and first aid stuffs. I find it to be easier as I am a person who usually takes more than can fit in a fannypack

I will be wearing a fanny pack, and Disney is the only place I would ever have one of these things on! I also bring a backpack, but my shoulders hurt after a while of carrying it around.
The fanny pack is so nice because I know my money, park tickets, camera, fastpasses, etc. are all right on me. I don't worry about losing anything. The backpack is nice for packing food, drink, clothes, medicine, etc.

I refuse to lug around a backpack. I have an old CD case that I wear. Kind of like a mini fanny pack. It holds my camera and cellphone and some sunblock perfectly. Anything else goes in my pockets. It disappears right under my untucked shirt so I don't even get searched.

i use a fanny pack of course its a disney fanny pack as thats the only place i use it
but its great any thing that i might have kept in the pockets are now in the pack and i dont have to worry about losing any thing
another nit plus is when some one in the group decides not to ride instead of holding onto 5 or 6 big packpacks the fanny stays right with you now on the wet rides the person has far less to hold onto

Both DH and myself wore fanny packs during our last trip and we both will be wearing them again this year. Leaves your hands free and I do not have to worry about DH leaving a backpack laying somewhere because he is not use to carrying something. Easier to get on and off rides too.
We each carried a digital camera and I also carried the camcorder in mine.

We thought about using a backpack, but having to wear that on your back all day long, plus the heat (i think a wet shirt in the back would be alot funnier than a fanny pack) was not a happy thought for us.

And besides the fanny pack we wore crocs too ()

i say fanny pack all the way. i never understood why people pack all kinds of stuff to lug around. when i go to disney i have my phone, cigs, a camera (maybe) and my wallet. what more do you need... everything you could possibly need disney provides at inflated prices.

I, DW, use the fanny pack..keeper of the tickets, most of the cash we carry around, tissues, cell phone, digital camera, bandaids, and hand sanitizer.

DH wears the 'backpack' - nylon Nike drawstring type.. keeper of our 4 WDW rain poncho's, DH & DW water bottles and he keeps his cell phone & wallet in his own pockets.

We do exactly the same thing - I have a fanny pack with tickets, cell phone, camera while DH uses the backpack with water bottles, ponchos, whatever else.

We're the extra dorky family because we'll also have sock with our crocs :rotfl:

Extreme comfort is the only way to go :thumbsup2

Honestly, the ones snickering are the snotty ones, or the men. We moms know that comfort comes before style every time!!

All 4 of us in my family wear fanny packs at WDW, but we try not to look too dorky! Mine is a Vera Bradley, DH has one from Wilson's leather, and the girls have Jansport ones. We each carry our phones, sunglasses, money, camera, etc. If we need to carry jackets or raincoats, DH will carry a backpack that day, but the fanny packs are much more comfortable and convenient. You can leave it on almost all the time so you don't have to worry about forgetting it on a ride or anything, and you don't have anything hurting your back or rubbing your neck.

I used a slingshot camera backpack 9 months ago at disneyland and before that I used a regular backback. Both times the back would start hurting after a full day. Now this time I bought a fanny pack style camera bag and already after only one day (today) I am much happier. Who cares what others think.

linky to the style I have, I don't use the side add on storage pockets as they are removable but camcorder does fit.

If people have time to look and even CARE about what you have on and what you are wearing ... they need to get a life ... and/or they are not doing WDW right! I mean people are wearing MOUSE EARS for goodness sake!

I swear ... I couldn't tell you WHAT anyone wore or didn't wear. Now ... if you are in high school that is a different matter ... please feel free to be cool, cold, carry heavy bags, never without make-up ... etc ... but if you are BEYOND high school -- comfort is everything.

YES ... dorky (old) me does wear a fanny pack. 80's -- 80's ... HEY I RESEMBLE THAT REMARK ... :lmao:

Wear whatever makes you feel ok ... or don't -- the decision is in your hands. Have fun!

:thumbsup2

I say take both, they are both useful just in different ways. Also know that no one at the park is going to be looking at you, unless you're in a Mickey costume. ;)

My sister and I got teeny baggalini's for our trip in January. They are slim, flat teeny bags that go around your waist. An updated fanny pack. They are small but can hold credit cards, money, camera or phone, chapstick etc. They were perfect, never got in the way on rides and I barely noticed I was wearing it :thumbsup2

My dh and I both use fanny packs. Our adult kids laugh at us but trust me you will see a lot ot them at disney. It is so easy---your hands and arms are free and your back won't hurt. When you are on a ride you just turn the fanny pack to the side but with a back pack you have to take it off on most rides.

Ok, if I choose to carry a fannypack instead of a backpack, will people be snickering  The reason I ask, I do not want to carry a ton of stuff, I know I could fill a backpack, but I am trying to downsize. I have read forum after forum and this is my families first trip so I want to be prepared but not weighed down. :goodvibes

I use a small thin backpack. Fanny packs are so uncomfortable on rides and sitting. They don't look good either.

I use a mesh Nike backpack...I love it. It's soft...not bulky...I don't ever feel weighed down. And security loves it as well.

No one is going to snicker at you, many use a fanny pack. I have a habit of leaving backpacks so the more hands-free I can be, the better for me.

If it works for you -- it works! :thumbsup2 I am using neither, because my LLBean small canvas tote works for me. :cutie:

However, in this cold snap I have been wearing my hand knit fish hat (with eyes, fins, and tail) and am likely known at my daughter's school as 'The Lady With The Fish Hat', so you might want to take my opinion with a grain of salt :sad2:

Cheers!

I rock a fannypack at Disney! ;)

My DD wanted one when we went on our first trip and I could only find an adult one. It was packed in our luggage. After the first day in the parks of me taking on and off a backpack to get out tickets/FPs/camera, I caved and found the fannypack.

I felt like a criminal sneaking out of the room with it on and walking around Epcot for the first hour or so worrying about how ridiculous I looked. But I got over it fairly quickly.

Ever since, putting way all our tickets or grabbing the camera while continuing to walk and push a stroller is so convenient. Especially since they did away with the wrist bands for EHMs-- I have a separate section for tickets/FPs where they are easy to access, but not likely to get lost.

DH wears a hydration backpack with snacks, diapers, sunblock, etc. He usually wears it all day, but has the option of leaving it in the stroller since it doesn't have anything really valuable in it.

There are plenty of people in hip packs, and they're fine, but I prefer a SMALL backpack. That way i can carry a bottle of water or two, and if I buy something small, carry it with me, but its small enough that I am not tempted to carry the whole room with me. mine has a small zippered pouch on the inside for credit card, room key, id, etc...

I will try both out on a test run then I will decide what is the most comfortable. :cheer2:

I wore one on our last trip and I know my Mum wore one when we were taken to WDW as children. I'm on MY holiday, no-one elses, I couldn't care less if others don't like what I'm wearing around my waist.

Granted, I'd only ever wear it whilst at Disney, but what the heck, as long as I have both hands/arms free for a hug from Mickey and the gang, I really don't care! The only things that I took with us were out KTTK cards for entrance/charging, a bit of cash and our digi camera.
