fanny pack vs lanyard

Getting ready for my first Universal trip in 11 sleeps! I've been reading these threads for months to get ready so thank you for all the info.

I do have one quick question... I know that I'll have to store my bag in a locker for the rides that require it. I know that if I wanted to, I could use a 3-prong fanny pack on most of those rides so I could keep things like my cell phone with me in the queue. I'm wondering if a cell phone lanyard is allowed? I'll have a lanyard for my ticket anyway, which I was planning to just tuck into my shirt. I have a lanyard for my cell phone that I wear when kayaking. It has closures at the top so the phone is completely sealed in. And could also be tucked under my shirt when riding. Do you think I'd be allowed to ride with that? I'm a scrapbooker so I already know I'm going to want to keep my phone with me in the queue so I can take pictures as we wait. Just trying to figure out if I need to invest in a fanny pack or not...

Thoughts?

On two of the rides, Hulk and (mind blank) mobile phones are not allowed. You go through a metal detector and are scanned. You can tuck your lanyard in but I think that is all they allow.

Thanks for the reply! I knew about those rides. I was mostly just wondering about all the other rides where fanny packs are allowed. Just wondering if my cell phone lanyard could be used instead of a fanny pack.

I know you can keep a lanyard on you, especially if you tuck it in your shirt. I do not know if that is including lanyards with cell phones however. Perhaps someone else can comment on that. I do know that the detector will definitely go off, however, whether they'll let you continue, or not is the question. I say this, as there are little things that can set a detector off, but they will let you go forward. Due to the fact that the cell is contained in that fashion they might let you go forward, but someone with more experience may know so absolutely sure (as I typically just put everything in lockers).

She's not asking about Hulk or RRR with the metal detectors, but I can answer your question. They definitely would not allow a cell in a lanyard on those rides. They wouldn't allow rubber reading glasses that had a small metal clip to attach to my lanyard on those.

As to the original post, I'd think if you could drop in into your top, it would probably not be an issue. If not they may be concerned that it could be a hazard if it flipped up and hit you, or the person next to you, in the face.

so you can't have cell phone on you on Hulk?? You MUST use a locker and not put in pocket even?

I only take a lanyard in. I loop it through a belt loop and put the pouch in my pocket. If I do take my phone I keep it in a pocket with a zipper or Velcro.
