I just heard on the local news that the post office in that area received a letter with suspicious powder addressed to George Bush and so they evacuated the area.......decontaminated the postal workers.. Yikes..

I know.. scary....
This morning I watched Susan Sarandon on the Early Show. I understood where she was coming from as a Mother.. She had a woman with her, somehow I felt she was an attorney, and a question was put to Susan asking her how she felt about the legislators not really speaking out against the war.. She replied with yes you are right.. and Hillary Clinton, shame on you... I was thinking did I really hear that.. the other woman tried to smooth it over.. but it was already said.

Hillary doesn't want to be holding the short end of the stick, She's got her future on her mind.

I'm just about a block over from there. I've been scouring the web trying to find out what was going on, but all the news sites are only covering the UN meeting.

That post office isn't a full-service one & isn't really secure. They don't take packages over 2lbs or do certified mail. There are alot of little kiosk-type shops in there as well. I hope it turns out to be nothing.

Now why would anyone think George Bush resides in Faneuil Hall? Did anything become of this yet?

There was breaking news flash about an hour ago but I haven't heard anything else since then. The flash said that there was a supsicous letter addressed to the president and 2 employees were taked to Mass General as a precaution and that the letter was going to be sent to the labs for examination for a substance on the letter. That's all I have heard.

That link is timed out Glo.. thanks for trying to get some info there..

I have not heard anything yet.. I did hear something a woman mailing it and employees were suspicious of it... something about a powdery residue on the envelope and called their supervisor.. and so it went.

Suspicious Letter Found At Post Office
Powder Found In Envelope Addressed To President

POSTED: 12:07 p.m. EST February 14, 2003
UPDATED: 1:13 p.m. EST February 14, 2003

BOSTON -- Safety officials are investigating a suspicious letter discovered at the post office on Congress Street near Faneuil Hall.

Fire officials said the letter was addressed to the president of the United States and had a white substance inside it.

Assistant U.S. Postal Inspector Harold Lane told the Associated Press that a woman dropped the envelope into a mail slot at the post office late Friday morning.

Crews do not yet know what substance is inside, but they are treating it as a level three alert, the highest hazardous material warning. It requires the crews to wear protective clothing and to evacuate buildings adjacent to the scene.

Two clerks who were at the post office at the time have been taken to Mass General hospital as a precaution.

NewsCenter 5 and The Boston Channel will have more information as it becomes available.

Wow.. I guess I did hear it right.. amazing.. if this is some nut playing games.. I swear to God.. they need to prosecute to the highest extent of the law..

Interesting... well I am sure when I posted they were not letting any one in to Faneuil Hall. hence the reason maybe the media used the word evacuation... wow.. it looked very scary to me... security everywhere.

Either way it does not matter, what is important is that there is someone out there sick enough to do this. If it is a prank it is sick, and if it is real it is sick. Either way in these times, prosectution to the extent of the law needs to happen.

I agree, it's sick whether it's a prank or if it's a real attack, and either way the people responsible should be brought to justice. But, I'm hoping that it's a prank so the workers don't get sick & so they and their families don't have to go through that ordeal.

Oh for goodness sake. What do these people think they are doing?

Scaring the living daylights out of a whole town, not to mention all the resources that were involved in evacuating the Post Office. Doesn't sound too peace loving to me.

Wow! How scary! Please stay safe all you Boston Dis'ers!! Marsha, please keep us updated on anything...

Oh for goodness sake. What do these people think they are doing?

The key word there is "think", apparently the "genius" who came up with this idea skipped that step.

Of course she has the right to voice her protests to our elected officials. A brief letter would have sufficed, or a post card with the biblical verse on it. Sending something white & powdery after the anthrax attacks is just plain stupid.

I agree... and if they find out who it was.. she will be going down big time.. very stupid move...
