***Universal Fan Club is changing***

*** After receiving an email, I went to the web site and sure enough it reads as if, you can only get the ticket discounts via the web now, and it no longer shows any merchandise or restaurant discounts!!!!! ***

OK here is the scoop!!!

FAN CLUB IS NOT GOING AWAY

They are just trying to streamline things and save some money by going paperless

Yes the cards are going to fade out

You can still get park ticket discounts online, and they have added other parks and dinner shows too!!

Yes your cards will still be honored at the gates for ticket discounts, for a while... (I bet it takes 6 months to a year)

In the future you will not have to show a card at check-in, because future room discounts will be made thru the web site using a promotional code, or over the phone using a 800 number and the same code

All current reservations will be honored

Merchandise and restaurant discounts are discontinued

After a brief reajustment period, Fan Club could change again...
Hopefully for the better....

Thanks TinkerBarb. You are great for not only supplying so many people with the cards, but also for providing us with this latest update.

If a card isn't required....how will they verify room check in discounts? and the like?????

Wow I was hoping to get my discount on friday using fan club card for the AP:(

Thank God I purchased an AP as well!

Thank you for sharing.

I have fan club rate at PBH in june... i hope i still will get it... i am a little confused... i have already booked and payed deposit...so i would hope i would still get it with my card ...thanks..amy:confused:

Highlander, I checked the Fan Club website, and you can buy APs with the Fan Club discount online and have them available for the will-call option that you pick up at the kiosks. It's a little confusing, but doable:

You must enter a ticket only vacation with the promtional code Fan62397. It doesn't matter what dates you enter on the first page, but enter the number of adults and kids. On the next page, it doesn't matter how many nights you choose. On the next page you'll see the $2 handling fee at the top. Scroll down to the options until you find the Preferred Annual Pass (keep in mind that the price already includes taxes). When you go to check out, you'll see the Fan Club Discount clearly applied.

Two adult Preferred Annual Passes including tax and the $2 handling fee costs $327.80. Regular price is $363.99.

Hope that helps!

Thanks had saw this but am not taking a cc this year taking cash and tc if I had known they where changing would have got it sent via post still onlt buying one ap rest are power passes and since they are on discount still saving $30 better than nothing:jester:

Does anyone know about the check in deal with the fan club card??? Can we still get this discount if we have a card (but perhaps don't work for one of the favored companies?)

I am wondering the same thing... i booked back in December with the card and am going in June....booked PBH bayveiw ....I would think they would honor what we booked... i hope.. amy

I don't understand. Why is everyone so worried? I checked the link in Tinkerbarbs original post and went to Fan club benefits. Nowhere on the page does it say they did away with hotel only benefits. It says you can still get discounts with FAN code.

Am I missing something? I have reservations in June should I be worried?

 thanks TinkerBarb for all your help and info....:wave2: amy

Thanks for clarifying this. While there last summer, I handed my fan card to the NASCAR server and she told me they didn't honor it anymore. So before this trip I was checking the web (last week) and noticed that no restraurants are listed anymore. So now I know I'm not crazy, because they were there before. Guess all good things come to an end. Seems the AP discounts are the best right now. Too bad we got a PP instead last year.

How are they going to tell who really has a FAN club card if everyone can put the promo code FAN to receive the discount when booking on line or thru the 800 number?

Sorry but I'm kind of confused as to how they are going to keep track once you book and put the FAN code in.

If you don't have an AP, but belong to AAA, bring your AAA card. YOu will get 10% discount at all the restaurants.

They changed the cards last year to having a bar code with a specific number for each company.... well....
Right now everyone that has knowledge of the club can access the web site.
But, after some more tweaking with the web site, there will be a "back end" link to the site that will be specific to each company.
I'm sure that like the bar code numbers on the cards, there will be a number after the word FAN, that will be the discount code. There is a discount code on the web site right now like that, but it is generic and all members can use it.
I have employees all over the world, and not all have access to a computer, so there will still be an 800# they can call, and give a code to a reservations person.

(Wink) If you've ever used any of the codes supplied at mousesavers.com for Disney resorts, you know that as long as you know to ask for it, they will honor it.

Tinkerbarb...your work on these boards are appreciated. Thanks for all you do. Hope all is going well with the baby??
