First of all... HEY! I was invited to the DIS boards by friends when I brought up the fact that my husband and I were planning a trip to WDW with our four children (ages at the time will be 13, 10, 3 and 1). It's quite the overwhelming task as none of us have ever been before! I grew up in CA and spent every waking hour at Disneyland more times than I could count, but I've never had to investigate hotels and packages before. This is a whole new ballgame and I'm looking forward to learning lots!

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the DIS!! This site has LOTS of great info. Whenever you have questions, just ask, and you're sure to get some very good answers and/or help.

Thanks so much! I'm really looking forward to this trip, and hope to make it an annual (cross my fingers) thing! My husband has NEVER been to any of the Disney parks - it's hard for him to gather up the excitement I have, but I can't wait for that moment he walks into Main Street USA and his jaw drops...

One thing I really look forward to is going to MK on arrival day & walking down Main Street USA.....best feeling in the world. I think your husband will love it - there's so many fun things to do at WDW - you'll have a great trip!

Thanks, all!

Yes, we do live in Nashville - beautiful place. And HOT right now!

I'm already finding more information on these boards than I could shake a stick at... it's fantastic!

HI, my name's Laura and I'm new too and am looking forward to going to WDW for the first time in Jan. 2009. We also are a family of six- kids' ages 12, 10, 6 and 4. I've never been to any Disney park before so I was really surprised by the amount of planning that goes into a vacation like this. It's fun though!

I love the planning part almost as much as the trip..... talking with the kids about what places we will eat at and what things they want to do most.... we have taken a three ring binder and put together our trip plans! The kids love to look at it. This will be the babies first trip to disney, it seems as if we always end up going around the time that one of the kids is turning one or just turned one!

I agree! - we're big planners too & enjoy scheduling ADR's, mapping out the parks, etc. By the way, WELCOME to the DIS!

With a family of your size, I'd recommend a suite. If you check out Disney's value resorts for a suite, they dont cost that much more than a regular room and you will really appreciate the extra space for everyone to stretch out at the end of the day. Would also recommend the DoubleTree an all suite hotel located just inside the main gates of DW on hotel drive. It's within walking distance of Downtown Disney. Again, very reasonable, lotsa space. Have a great trip!
