Family T-shirts... Is this corny...?

Of course its corny, but that is why it is so great. When we go on any vacation, we wear matchng shirts, but just color. I will wear a tank top, dh a polo, dd's camis, and ds's t's. When we go to WDW, we totally match. I usually buy us all matching shirts whenever I catch them at Disney Store for $5 or less. We have the red incredible shirts. We wore them on our last 2 trips. The 8 of us in bright red incredible shirts really stand out. Everywhere we went CMs and visitors would shout "LOOK, it's the incredible family!!!" It got a little old after a while, but you could not miss that we were a group. It is the only time I can get ds16 to wear disney shirts and he does not mind the corniness. It is WDW after all, it is magical.

We have never wore them.

One thing to keep in mind, many tour groups for other countries wear matching shirts. Sometimes the groups are as much as 100 ppl.

I made shirts for the plane ride. Me mom and sis have white shirts with a pink castle on the front (where pocket would be) and on the back of them they say "Disney 2007, Courtney's 8th Birthday" in pink and my sister's says "it's my birthday!" My husband and stepdad have the same thing but the castle and lettering is in blue.

Alot of people do it and I think it is neat. Corny, maybe to some, but I always look at these families with admiration. We are somewhat conservative but got matching shirts for our disney cruise. They were navy blue polo shirts with Mickey in place of the alligator or other symbol that is usually there on regular shirts. They are actually nice shirts . We got them on one of the disney websites on sale for very cheap and they are nice enough we wear them at home.

I say go for it!! We loved wearing ours....

Awe, I was going to post a pic, but I don't have enough posts!

Anyway, yes we did ours through Zazzle and I highly recommend them.

If it is corny, we are the corniest people in the world. I just got done making 48 shirts for our Sept trip!!! Check the dis designs thread from the first page of these boards. There are soooooo many great designs that you can copy and paste, print out on iron on paper and voila a great t-shirt. You can get shirts at Michaels or we ordered from blankshirts.com. We have GREAT shirts to wear and all in all cost less than $4 per shirt.

GO CRAZY! It's Disney after all. If you can't be a "Goof Nut" at Disney, where can you be????:thumbsup2

I think it's great! Thanks for all of the links, my DH has been wanting us to get these too.

Corny everywhere else but in WDW I would say you ar ok.... I actually think it is cute when families dress alike (in Disney only!) I say do it....:thumbsup2

We did Incredibles T-Shirts for DW,DS and myself. Mrs. Incred, Dash and Mr. Incred respectively. It was really, kind of fun. People would smile and such when they saw us. It was really great when the CM checking us in asked where Violet was? I responded, "You can't see her...oh yeah, she's invisible".

I felt pretty slick!!!!

Great comeback!!

I was thinking about have some t-shirts made for the 4 of us, so maybe we could easily keep track of each other (HA!)... is this really silly or something everyone is doing (and then defeating the purpose).

Looking for input and possibly some suggestions on where to have this done, any opnline links would be great. (also we would need one in a very very large size too).

Thanks!

Ahh, I'm said at all the responses that say it's corny. I'm trying my hardest to get my family to go along with it for part of the time. We have a 16 and 12 year old, one boy and one girl, so it's been difficult to agree. The only thing my husband and kids have agreed on are grumpy shirts. I told them that was the one shirt I wouldn't wear but would wear a snow white one that said these are my 3 dwarfs. :rotfl:

We did get 4 of the new tiki style shirts, different characters and different colors but same design style.

I found blue luah style clothes at the Disney store. My daughter and I bought matching skirts and I got my hubby and DS matching shirts of the same material. Suprisingly enough they all loved them. We're wearing those to our dinner at Ohana's.

I love the post about the Incredible shirts. I saw somewhere a design that I think I'm going to copy where the shirts say After 21 years (He/She) still thinks I'm Mr./Mrs. Incredible. We'll be celebrating our anniversay while we're there. I think I'll do these to surprise hubby!

WDW is the only place that I know of that you can wear matching shirts, funny hats, crazy shoes, fanny packs and you will fit right in. I say enjoy yourself, the attire I have seen at WDW is just families enjoying and having the time of their life. This is the only place my dh can get away with wearing his Ind. Jones hat  We always have matching shirts, just part of the fun. My fanny pack is pretty scary but it's the only time I feel comfortable wearing it.

The last few years I've made us a few matching (or similar) shirts. Here are some pictures

This year's shirts-I'm currently making. Even my DSis agreed to wear one.

Sept. 2006 for MNSSHP-the green webbing glows in the dark! Very cool walking thru Tomorrowland.

These were done by removing color-The gold ones started as black and the rose one (DD) started as brown.

One added thing about wearing matching shirts, last year after leaving LTT at the start of MNSSHP, while looking for my DM and DD who had left a few minutes before I did, I ran into a fellow disboarder who said she recognized my shirt. I asked her if she had seen 2 others wearing them and she pointed me in the right direction. :goodvibes

Oh boy! Consider us corny then. :rotfl2:
DH and I really get a kick out of our matching shirts.

How can anything you do with your family be considered corny when you're at Disney World?!?! Your whole family walking around your home town with matching Incredibles t-shirts is corny. The same group of folks walking around WDW with matching Incredibles t-shirts is just "getting into the Disney spirit". :cool1:

So True!:)

Corny? Maybe, but I love it! We probably wouldn't do this each of the 6 days we are at Disney, but at least a couple.

Yes, it's corny, but it was a lot of fun. My DD7 can pull an amazing vanishing act, and having those matching shirts made it a LOT easier to keep track of her. Something else I didn't realize until my son mentioned it -- not only do matching shirts make it easier for the adults to keep track of the kids, the kids have an easier time finding the adults. That was truly invaluable with the crowds in June.

FWIW, we did matching tiedye shirts, then personalized them with Disney iron-ons. I highly recommend www.tiedyeusa.com for the shirts. You have to order 24 shirts to get the wholesale prices, but that wasn't as hard as it sounds. There were 5 people in my group for 4 days (20 shirts), and then we wanted an extra day of shirts for just immediate family (4 shirts), and then a friend ordered some for her family as well. The price averaged out to $5.25/shirt even with shipping costs. I'm not a huge fan of tiedye, but it was highly visible in the parks.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks for the idea! I just ordered their free catalog!

Yeah matching shirts are corny, but who cares....you are at WDW! I haven't had a chance to take DBF to WDW, but we have made the trip to DL already and he wore matching shirts with me, the sweetpea and my nephew. We will be going in two weeks again and once again, we will be wearing matching shirts. Solid color this time, but definately a color that others will know we belong to each other. At first he thought it was silly. He is a biker so him agreeing to match me was huge. Now he is totally on board. When we go back in two weeks we will be taking all 3 of our kids. So we really need to be able to spot our group fast. And it also attracts attention for us in the parks which is sometimes nice.
