Family Reunions - Like 'em or hate 'em?

I'm going to a family reunion today and I'm very excited about it. Finally a reunion with the GOOD side of the family. They're loads of fun and we hardly see each other.

Do you enjoy family reunions or loathe them?

Hate them! In fact I have taken an oathe to NEVER go to another one. I love family holiday get togethers just not the reunions that never seem to work out.

I can relate. My other side of the family is excruciating to be around. I took that same oath when it comes to them.

It depends. If they make me play volleyball, I hate it. For some reason, I hate playing volleyball. Oh, I don't care if other people play, but when they start needling me ("c'mon, don't be a wet blanket") I want to go home.

I love to have a beer and catch up with people. That's just the best.

Have not been around my family in over 10 yrs except for my brother (long post and wont go there) but we always have my husbands family over every year on Labor day weekend.
I consider them family over my own. When they all come it's about 32 of them! It's always lots of fun. I have been around them since I was 13.
Auntpolly: Most of them play volleyball but I get a bigger kick out of sitting and watching because my husbands family is very very crazy. No one pressures any one to play.

What is it about family reunions and volleyball? My family always plays volleyball too and I STINK at it. I usually end up the laughing stock of the volleyball game, but they INSIST I play anyway.

Reminds me. DH knows a family that has really weird reunions. They all have to bring a dish to pass. What doesn't get eaten can be BOUGHT BACK. So, they pay to buy it once, and then these idiots pay AGAIN to take it home. And they DO. Laughed my butt off the first time I heard this.

There is one that I love to go to. It was always fun and relaxing and I love the people.
There's another that I love, but have to come back home to relax. They're loud and fight a lot, every one is laughing, but they're family and I'm used to it.
There's another that I love most the people there, but there are some I will never be comfortable with. I try to avoid them as much as possible.
There's another that most the people seem to be over 80 yo. lol I don't know anyone, so I don't go to that one very often.
