I've searched all over and the only answers I found were on the DISabilities forum. If a parent is at DL with their young opposite sex child, are there family restrooms in the parks? I've never noticed before, and restroom locations do not seem to be on the maps posted on the website. Obviously it is not safe to let a young elementary student go into a DL restroom by themselves. I know you could probably go to the baby care center and let the child use the little potties in there, but what if the adult needs to use the facilities as well? You can't quite leave a small child to wait by themselves outside the restroom either.

Apparently the "secret" bathroom at Disneyland is the family bathroom. Not too sure where it is located. Someone made a video of it and you can find it on youtube. I watched it a while ago and I can't remember where it is located. I will also probably get boo'd and hissed for this post also.

Ok, I've found it before. It is in the same area as the Carnation Plaza Gardens performing area at the end of Main Street. It is pretty much across from the stage area, go to the fence and turn towards the castle, you'll find it. It's a little easier to see if you are coming from Rancho del Zocalo through the wooden tunnel area. As soon as you come out of that tunnel, look left and walk up towards the fence. I hope that helps somewhat, it was pretty clean when I was there.

I know I am planning on taking my kids into the ladies with me. Granted, my oldest son is only 4, but if I saw a boy getting up there in age in the ladies, I still wouldn't be offended. (Unless he was trying to peek into the stalls or something. A bigger boy should know better)

I agree it's not safe to let our kids into the bathroom by themselves. In Tacoma, in January, at Chuck E Cheese's, there was a 5 year old boy sexually assualted in the bathroom, when his dad let him go in there by himself.

So family bathrooms are great, and I like to take my family into those. (They have some in the water area of DCA, too) But if there are none available, it will be a long time before my boys are permitted to go without me or dh. They will have to be big enough to know to kick in the right place, and have the good sense of self-preservation to scream and yell when necessary.

I would not be offended at all for you bringing in a 4 year old now would I be offended if you brought a child up to the age of 9-10. I would look at you like a GREAT mother who cares about her child...this is a crazy world, i feel for people having kids or have young kids now, what will the world be like years from now. :)

My DS is 6 and here is how we use the ladies room. I find a stall for him and he goes in and does his business. Then he waites in there untill I tell him to come out. He knows to not open the door for anyone. Also heis safe. He sometimes Yell's "Can come out now!" I usually answer no.

My BF taught me this with him when he was little. It was the best idea ever. As he gets privacy and so do I. We try to get stalls next to each other, but sometimes it does not happen. So this is the next best.

Also when we go someplace that they do not have to wee DS6 and DD3. They stand outside of the stall so I can see their feet and sing a song. I know it is obnoxious, but sometimes mom's don't need help or extra eyes in the bathroom.

Or we go to a big stall and take turns turning our back so that each of us has 'privacy'.

HTH

This is all much more difficult with men and little girls. Anyone have ideas? My 4 yr old is too young to go alone as well as she can't manage everything yet by herself ie. tp is always out of her reach as well as toilet seat covers. My DH wants to be able to take her out places without the bathroom trouble looming over his head. He was appalled when he resorted to bringing her into a restroom at 3 trying to cover her eyes and a teenage boy tried to flash her!!!:scared1: Luckily her eyes were closed and if my DH wasn't carrying her in that boy probably wouldn't have anything left to flash! :scared:

Yaaaagh. Hadn't heard that.

In a similar thread on the WDW forum, someone did bring up the point that bringing a 10 year old boy won't offend most adults, but it would absolutely mortify any 10 year old *girl* in the bathroom. So if the OP's elementary-aged child is around that age, I would try to be sensitive to any similarly-aged "right" sex-for-that-bathroom kids in there by figuring out a plan ahead of time.

I'm so thankful that DH is with us at DL. My son will be 10 when we go in June, and bad things can happen to even 10 year olds! So I'm glad DH can take him in to the mens room. Safety comes first in my book! Besides if the kids are behaving (and not peaking in stalls) all they're really going to see is women washing their hands!

I believe there is a family restroom over at the First aid area in DL.

 you know better missy

Just an FYI... on Sat. I was at DL by myself with our DS7 and he went with me into the women's restroom (own stall, stayed in until I said come out). Problem is that he is tall for his age, as tall as many 9 year olds, so I'm certain I probably got some "looks" from people (if I'd may eye contact with any of them that is). So if he is forever emotionally scarred at having seen women washing their hands in the bathroom so be it... at least he's safe and came home with me in one piece.
