Family Photo at Chef Mickey's?

This is our first visit to WDW so this is all new to us. I though I read another thread that implied that your photo is taken at Chef Mickey's. Is that true? Are the Charaters (Mickey) with you in the photo? How much is the photo and when/where can you see it? I'm sorry for all the questions, but we have PS at Chef Mickey's for dinner on our arrival date (9/10/04) and I just bought my girls matching red/white Hawiian (sp?) print sun dresses (only $3.99 on sale at Children's Palace) that I thought might look real cute for this occasion.
Any information would be great!

After you check in, before you are seated you are sent to a (usually) short line for the family photo. There are no live characters, but a picture of Mickey in his chef hat in front of you.

A CM will come around to your table to let you see the pictures, with the option to buy. However on our trip there a couple weeks ago, the CM never found us as we never saw our pictures. Im sure we could have asked, but we have so many now, that we werent planning to buy these ones anyway.

I believe there are different sizes, but in the past we have only gotten the smaller package with magnets & key chains. Im sorry I cant help with the price, I completely forget from last year.

Matching outfits would be great for this picture. I usually make sure we are all wearing something nicer on the day we go here, LOL!

Yes, your family photo is taken usually as you're waiting to be seated. No, the characters are not in it, but I know with ours we got a separate pic of all the characters included with ours. I can't remember how much they were-maybe $20 or so for 5x7 and a magnet. They will bring the pictures to you at your table while you are eating. Hope this helps. The matching dress idea sounds great!!

We were just there in July and ate and bought the pictures. We only had the choice of one package. It came with 2- 5x7 a magnet picture and a key chain and a another small one seperate. OUr package was around the $26 plus tax.

The restaurant won't normally tell you this... but if you don't want a whole package, they will sell you just the 5x7. We were there at the end of June and I think we paid something like $12.

OMG, I asked that lady if I could just buy the one 5x7 and she said no !! I wish I would have known that.

We got just the magnets last year. Both from Chef Mickey's and 'Ohana

If you're looking for a nice family photo, I would highly recommend passing on the Chef Mickey photo & getting your photo taken at Downtown Disney at Studio M with the Mouse himself. The price is about the same, or maybe even a little less. I think it was about $12-15 for one person & a few dollars more for each additional person. Maybe someone else can clarify the prices or you could do a search for Studio M prices.
