My neice is graduating in Aug. in Orlando, thinking of family get together at 1 br villa at OKW, about 15 people for the day (NOT SPENDING THE NIGHT). Called DVC and OKW and both said no problem. What do you think?

For a party of 15, your group will certainly make full use of the 1BR's balcony for the event. IMHO, if I were on vacation and booked next to a party of 15 - even if they were not sleeping there, just there for the party - I might not be too pleased. I've only stayed at OKW once but aren't all the balconies of a particular building fairly close together?

I think you all will have a lot of fun! I'll take the room next to you (as long as the party isn't into the night!)!

Sounds like a wonderful get-together. During the day few guests are in their rooms, so there is less likely to be any concern over noise from a large group like that. The balconies are private enough that it shouldn't be a problem for nearby rooms.

You might find that you can enjoy time together near the Old Turtle Pond pool area or even by the main pool.

The villa will be a bit crowded, but by using the balcony and large living room area, everyone can be accommodated. There is seating for 14 in those 2 areas alone, so entertaining your family shouldn't be a problem.

Have a great gathering! :)

I think it depends on where you are in the building as far as closeness.

I wouldn't be too happy with a party going on depending on time of day/night. I suppose if it didn't go too late 10pm-ish, i would most likely be in the parks anyway and wouldn't know the difference.

The suggestion of having it at one of the quiet pools like Turtle pond is a great idea!

You guys are implying it's OK for day guests to use the pools, is that really the case? OKW really must have huge 1 bedrooms, I can't imagine fitting or seating 15 people in a 1 bedroom at BWV or VWL, oh well.

I have heard of people having parties, even weddings, in grand villas. First time I've heard of trying to do it in a one bedroom. I guess it's okay if it's a party in the villa -- I'm not so sure I think it should include pool access.

I will be there in August, and I would be VERY unhappy if I wanted to swim, and a bunch of non-members were using the pool, getting drunk, and being noisy and annoying. You are assuming that the other guests will be glad to compromise their enjoyment just so you and your friends can have a good time. That's rude, and stupid, and I'm surprised that the rest of you are OK with this lame-brained idea. You are assuming that all the guests will be quiet, discreet, and polite, and you know that isn't going to happen. Think about this for a minute. Would you REALLY like a large group of strangers to take over the pool area or be very noisy in their one bedroom villa when you are next door??? NO NO NO, this is a bad idea :sad2:

Will Disney deliver kegs????

15 in a one bedroom sounds fine....... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

WDWCRAZY32, apparently in order to have this family graduation party you must also get drunk in the pool .... sure seems like a leap to me .... perhaps all 15 of you chain smoke and like mosh pit dancing as well.....

I don't believe the OP said specifically what type of party. Not every party has to have people being noisy and getting drunk.

Well, there's no need for that kind of common sense to get in the way of some old fashioned name calling is there?

:ssst: :ssst: :ssst: :ssst: :ssst:

Seriously, I didn't read into it that this family gathering would be some falling down drunken noise fest.... most of the family graduation parties I've been too are very pleasant and respectable, and do not bother the neighbors. I believe there were at least three of them today within site of our house. Didn't hear a peep, just parked cars and friendly people offering a pleasant wave...... :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

I would revise my answer with pit dancing and entertainment included ;)

No real big problems with this party :rotfl2:

We all drive swamp buggy's :moped:

Drink moonshine :faint:

Chew tobacco, no smoke problems :guilty:

Just love peain in the pool :rolleyes1

Those ducks around the grounds help with food cost to :mickeybar

Really dig Reagea :charac2:

:cheer2: :dancer: :jumping1: :rockband: :thewave:

WOW! I had to stop, think & count, but you are correct! On our first stay at OKW (on the day we signed our papers), we had some large parties in a one bedroom unit. If the seating accomodates 14 or 15, we must have had lots more people because we borrowed chairs from other people's units (people who were at the parties.).

I guess I'm in the distinct minority who thinks that parties in hotel rooms, especially of this size of a gathering, are both inappropriate and inconsiderate. If it is that important to have a party, go to a restaurant or park or other place that is designed for such a gathering. As someone who tends to work in my hotel room during the day, even daytime parties are inconsiderate unless little or no noise is made (and what fun is that, LOL).

As someone who is almost never in their room during the day, we wouldn't even know you were there---assuming you're back to normal by evening. We wouldn't have any problems with an event like that being next door--conditioned, of course, on reasonable behavior. :smooth:

You people are out of control! Noone said this was turning into a knock down drag out booze fest until all hours of the morning! :rolleyes1
