I am going to attempt a trip report. Though we have gone every spring since 1994, missing, I think only 2 years.... I have never done a report. Why, I have no idea... maybe because by the time I take my trip I am SO DIS'd out, from being on these boards every waking minute, that when I get back, I just need to be done. BUT, I read alot of reports in the planning of this trip and enjoyed them so much I decided to offer my own in the hopes that it helps someone... or at least gives them enjoyment....

That's us.
Our trip is 6 days, 5 nights at the Liki TIki Village resort.
Our flight left 7:45 Thurs am.
Delta to Orlando
US Air back to Boston
6 people - $1300
Not bad price at all!
Landed in Orlando, and made it to the Thrifty rental place by noon.
6 days, Town & Country mini van, $265,
We drive directly to Universal, the plan was to have lunch and then pick up electronic tickets for the big kids to go to the park Friday am. CityWalk was great, as always.... we had lunch at Margaritaville, Cheeseburgers in Paradise all around! Kids loved the volcano..... got the tickets, easy sneezy, and headed back to car, on the road to LTV.
Now, I have been very nervous about Liki Tiki, read some very mixed reviews all over the net....
5 nights, $707.00
Check in went smooth. I requested the newer buildings, 1100, 1200, but was told nothing was available. They put us in the 200 building... ok, this is fine, looked at the map, it was close to the lagoon... off we go. So this was a two floor unit, and like I've heard, it seems smaller than the one floor unit.... it was... ummm.. older, for sure... not yucky, but not sparkly new... and there was NO JACUZZI in the master bath. That was NOT working for me. I must have a jacuzzi when traveling.
SO, I head back to check in and explain that I reserved a suite, 2 bedroom with jacuzzi and this unit did not have one. Oh, they said, really? All of the two bedrooms are supposed to have one.... someone pops over and informs the girl, that no, the older units do not, to please move my family to one of the newer units.
Thank you!
So, they moved us to the 1100 bldg.
This was a one floor unit, much bigger, a bit nicer..... my analogy of the decorating is this.... we have stayed at many resorts here and there.... I'd say, a typical 5 star resort is decorated by Pier 1, the Liki Tiki, by Target. Not ugly, at all, not tacky... just a bit more downscaled. Anyway, the suite was great, clean, roomy, equipped with all the necessities... and a jacuzzi in the master bath!
King sized bed in master, 2 full sized in second bedroom, washer/dryer, full kitchen, mad huge screen tv, comfy couch opens to a bed, deck out back with table/chairs. Typical resort room. We were happy there.
The main reason I chose this hotel is the lagoon, a mini water park, complete with slides, squirty things, wave pool, all designed to give my water kids hours of on site fun! It worked. It was perfect. My two big kids enjoyed the bigger slide, the volleyball and basketball, my two little ones were amazed at it all! I would have to say, perfect ages for this lagoon would be 6-11. Younger than that and perhaps they need more mom/dad supervision, older than that and it may get boring fairly quickly. The lifeguard situation was impressive, at every turn someone was there. I'd say there were probably an average of 6 lifeguards on duty. They were good too, keeping the kids in line as well as safe. Anyway, we spent alot of time there, I would go back again, just because of the pool.
There were two other pools as well, your normal run of the mill 3-8 ft pool. And two hot tubs. Quieter than the lagoon....
Also at the the lagoon was the resorts one and only restaurant/bar. Shipwreck Sallys. Typical pub fare. Drinks and food were good/reasonable. My only complaint is that they closed by 9-10pm everynight. And this is the only bar/restaurant....
The resort has bumper and paddle boats, we did not try these, I think it would be fun, but maybe because of the lack of rain, the "pond" was creepy looking. Very low water....
Nice playground, cute mini golf.... we did rent the surrey bikes.... they have them for two or for four, we, of course, did for four... they were lots of fun.... big kids played basketball, I think they also offer tennis....
Not far from Disney, 20 minutes I'd say, a bit further to Universal.
All in all I like the Liki Tiki.
I don't have, nor do I need, to spend monster bucks on a hotel. I do need space, being 6 people, and I do need stuff for my kids to do... I would tell anyone who is thinking of going, to just do it. Like I said, don't expect Pier 1 though.
Well, this was painless...
I am very happy to answer any questions.
I will come back later and do another installment.... hmmm... let's see... maybe.... Magic Kingdom!!!!
