For us to get a table for 7 people would it be easier to split some of the ADR's into two tables, like make an ADR in my hubby's name for 3 and then mine for a group of 4 at the same or close to the same time? I'm wondering if it would be faster and we would have a better chance of getting seated faster if we use two seperate tables instead of one big table. TIA

If you can't get a table for 7 then yes, your best option is to split the ressie into 2 tables. If you don't mind not eating together you will also avoid the auto gratuity for parties of 6 or more.

Don't you want to sit together as a family? I doubt with 7 it will make a huge difference. What if 4 got seated and the other 3 had to wait 20+ minutes later? Would that matter? I think I would just make your ADR's early for the full seven and take your time and enjoy yourself. There really is no need to rush through your vacation.

Of course, the OP could make ADR's for 4 & 3, if there is nothing for a party of 7. But it seems that the OP is only looking to speed dinner along. I doubt if splitting the party will do that. As a matter of fact, it could do the opposite.

Yeah if there was not any tables for 7 then we would have to split. I was wondering if it was easier and quicker to get seated in two groups because they have more tables open up faster to accomidate the party of 3 or 4. Also food arrives sooner for a small table then for a large one at most places (I assume) and it's not fun to keep all four hungry kids waiting on mac and cheese because someone else wanted a well done steak or something to that effect.

Good thing to consider. But the kids can't eat at a table by themselves. What if the party of 3 is called and the party of 4 must wait an extra 20 or more minutes? This could be a real possiblity. Now you have two kids eating while the other two have to wait. That could be even worse. There would be no guarantee that you would be anywhere near each other too. If you make the ADR's early enough in the day, maybe you can steer clear of the kids being starved while waiting for dinner. We've done ADR's for parties much bigger than 7 and have never had a problem, even with the smaller children with us. We had 8 on our last trip with our DD's and DGKids, all meals went great.

Only if you don't ask that your party be seated together, and you are seated at different tables with different servers.

You'd be best off making reservations for all 7 if they are available. If you can't get a reservation for 7 then you can think about how to split the party.

Just a thought, but if there are reservations available for 3 and 4 in the same time frame, odds are they could move those tables together to make it a table for 8 - seems like what would happen in most cases anyway...

Ok, thanks everyone. Haveing had to cancell our last WDW trip this will be our first trip and at local places we sometimes have a hard time getting in for a large group and end up having to split into two booths so I wasn't sure if that was the case at WDW also or not.

Wouldn't you actually need a table for 8...or are you leaving someone home? Just noticed your thread title is "family of 6 plus babysitter"...but I'm seeing 2 adults & 5 kids as your family in your signature.:confused3

If we had to split and this were the case that one group got called before the other, the first adult called would have to take the kids that are the biggest winers and really ready to eat , IDK, lol.
