I can't decide which. My waffling is making DH crazy.
We're looking at April...DS will be 18, DD 8, DD 4 and DD 2.
I think the girls would like the pool at CBR, and I'm curious about the new pool rehab. I think DH would like the whirlpools at the CBR. But thekids really wouldn't know what they were missing and we stayed at the suite, and we could always spend the savings on a few buffets and character meals.
Which one would you pick?

I would choose the AS Music Family Suites. We are going to stay there, hopefully in April/May, and will be staying there in December. I haven't stayed at either resort, so I can't say much about them, but I know if it was me, I would rather save the money for other things.

I'd pick the suite. Just came back from ASMu and have stayed at CBR. I'd pick ASMu over CBR hands down. We just did not care for CBR at all. Just too big, too many bus stops, too big, did I mention it's really big? ;)

Of course, it has it's fans so take my opinion with a grain of salt!

I pick CBR because I don't know how comfortable your older DS would be on a pullout sofa and sharing a room with his much younger siblings in the suite. Although it would be difficult to give up having a mini kitchen if you went with the CBR.

Do you plan on spending a lot of time at the resort?

In theory I'd really like to spend some time hanging out at the pool, which is why CBR appeals to me...but we've been away so long (well, for us, when we lived in Orlando we were at WDW every weekend) that I'm sure the kids will want to do and see everything, and with a week we just might not have the time to stop and enjoy the resort KWIM?
Thank you guys for your input and for saving DH from my indecisiveness :)

I voted for the family suites because the pool will be closed at CBR until Sept.

I should have clarified, I'm planning out for 2009, so the pools will be open.

(See, that's why DH thinks I'm out of my mind. I will be planning this for over a year. I guess my near daily planning updates are lost on him. In my defense, I do tolerate his love of professional wrestling; Did anyone realize that stuff's on almost nightly for 2-3 hours? He even watches Lucha Libre on Sunday and we don't word one of Spanish. Okay, OT rant is over!)

If you think the pullout at the Family Suite might me too uncomfortable, you might want to consider 2 rooms at POP or a different value. This way you have 4 beds, 2 baths and a cheaper price than going with a mod. We have opted for 2 rooms at POP when we visit this December. We loved this resort!!

I too would go with two rooms at POP and then use the money saved to add the waterpark option and go to those. They would be great fun for all your kids.

I would do 2 rooms at CBR but mainly because of the hot tub. Hubby HAS to have one.

To save $, I think the other posters are right to lean towards 2 rooms at the POP, they are more likely to be discounted. I don't think the family suite has ever been discounted. Plus POP has refillable icees. My kids love that.

I think I'm leaning that way (today anyway :lmao: )
DH would really appreciate the hot tub...
And we've never been to this resort before; it would be a little more special to do something different before DS goes off to college and we have what might be our last "whole family" vacation.

I thought of something else to edge towards CBR. I don't think Disney has ever given discounts on the family suite. I tried last year and they said that the suite wasn't included and from reading the DIS I found out that they haven't given any. You could always hope for some for the CBR. OOps! Sorry, I guess I already mentioned that.

Also if you go for the Pirate and Princess Party then you would have a nice "theme" going.

I've been advance planning for 2009 also;)

I would choose the Family Suites.

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

I.....I don't think the family suite has ever been discounted. ....

The Family have been discounted in the last several codes.
Many have recieved AAA discounts and a few DIS'ners reported they recieved the recent 40% off discount on the Family Suites. So if you keep your eyes open you may just snag a great deal on the Family Suites.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks :thumbsup2 Good to know. When I made ressies last October I was told that my code was good for the suites but when I checked the price it wasn't discounted at all. It was really wierd. Afterwards, I had heard on the DIS that they had yet to be discounted. I guess that it has changed. Gotta sign up for AAA. I sometimes get codes in the mail but I never know when they are going to show.

I got a AAA discount on the suites for this Aug. I also just got a 40% coupon and when I called she said that it did apply to the suites but not for the time I wanted. We ended up going with two rooms at POP and saving $300. My sons didn't care as long as they had their own bed.

The pullout couches at the suites look like the one I stayed on at Boardwalk and it was really comfortable.

We -- dh, ds13, ds10 and I -- spent five nights in ASMu FS right after New Year's.

It was great for us. No worries about connecting or adjoining rooms, but had two bathrooms and the kitchenette was great for breakfast.

My ds13 is already 5'7" and ds10 is also tall for his age. They gave a big :thumbsup2 to the pullouts. Said they were very comfortable. In fact, ds13 used the chair pullout while younger, smaller ds10 had the couch. Who knows, that's what they worked out and they both were happy.

Good luck with your decision. I originally reserved a WL bunk bed room, but as much as we were drawn to the lodge at the holidays, it was great to spend less for more space, two bathrooms and a kitchenette. We were in the parks from RD to fireworks and/or dinner, so we spent very little time in the room.

Oh, and my dh didn't "get" the back and forth on the resort decision either, but he was happy to benefit from all my planning. He loved the FSuite, appreciated the well-planned ADRs and really liked riding Soarin' twice, doing Turtle Talk, Mission Space and Test Track all in the a.m. with virtually no wait on a jam-packed day at Epcot.

This is the exact question we are pondering for our April 2009 trip. I am leaning towards the AsMu FS. We also have 4 kids (13yo DD, 9yo DD, 9yo DD and 4 yo DS).
