What is the best universal hotel for a family of 5? We are going next summer and I am clueless about Universal.

If you want to stay in one room, I would choose a deluxe room at HRH or a villa room at PBR. Both come with a sofa bed and the rooms are much more spacious than RPR. You will love the whole Universal Resort area!

i have used both hrh and pbh but feel the pbh is larger, especially the bathroom.


my sons are not small people.
as teens they were large people and the extra space was helpful.
that way they did not have knock down dragged out fights as much.

the deluxe queen at hrh is 500 sq ft of space.

I agree PBH rooms are larger, especially the bathrooms. The distinction is that HRH has the sink outside of the bathroom and PBH's sink is inside the bathroom. With five people sharing one bathroom, this may be a consideration. I know I usually get my shower and then put my make-up on and dry my hair at the sink vanity while DH and DS get their shower.

i am going solo and stay at HRH.
closer to the park........less of a walk.

i save my walking for doing the parks.......

I too find that the most important thing is that with the deluxe room at the HRH, the sink is outside of the shower/toilet area so someone can be in the room using those facilities while others are brushing teeth, etc.

With the deluxe room at the Portofino, the sink is inside the same room as the shower/toilet and it limits the number of people who can use that room at the same time.

I prefer the deluxe room at the HRH for those reasons. I find there to be more room in the Deluxe at the HRH. It just feels bigger to me.

Are 5 people allowed in every room at Universal Hotels? I feel like I read somewhere that this was the case. We're a group of nine heading to US/IOA next June. Two of the nine are children (if that makes a difference).

Any help would be appreciated...

yes, 5 per room is allowed.
it is due to the fire codes you can not exceed 5 per room.

you can get 2 connecting/adjoining rooms.

leave the door open inside between the 2 rooms if you wish.

one catch. if you have more than 2 adults/ over 18 per room, there is an additional charge per night. disney has the same policy.

at hrh, it is $25 per night for each adult past the 2 adult limit.

9 people: 7 adults, 2 kids.

either way you split it up, you will have more than 2 adults per room.

I've never stayed at the other resorts, but HRH was plenty of room for my family of 5. We originally had two DD's under the age of 8, my stepson who was 17 at the time, myself and DH, we had plenty of space. We even had DH"s 16 year old DD visit and spend the night with us, still enough room.

ok heres a post from the cheaper side of things...while I would love to get a deluxe or a club or a villa or a mansion type room from anyone of these awesome hotels...I just cant afford anything other than the 2 standard queen garden view rooms. For the past 4 times we went we always had 5 (3 teens, 1 adult and 1 child) with us. We had no trouble with the 2 beds and a rollaway. We stuck it by the window and it was fine. We were hardly in the room anyway. The Hard Rock and the Royal Pacific both have bathrooms separated from the sink area...so thats not a problem...although the RP is smaller of the three, we loved it and are grateful we could afford to go at all and stay onsite.

$25 per night charge for a roll away at hrh.




buy an aero mattress that is a good one and take that.
you can get the ones with a pump.

ask housekeeping for extra sheets, linens, pillows and you will get it free.


toss the deflated air bed (rolled up) on the closet shelf for the day.
that way it is not in the way when they clean the room.

Correct me if i'm wrong. But it seems like both the standard and deluxe rooms have 2 queen size beds and 1 sleeper couch. So number of beds is exactly the same. The only difference is the extra space in the deluxe, 500 feet deluxe vs 375 feet standard. Am I missing anything?

We have always stayed in a standard room HRH and RPR and never had a sleeper sofa...It had 2 queen beds and we had to get a rollaway.

standard rooms do not have a sofa.
they have an easy chair that is not a sleeper........
