and I'm trying to figure out where to stay.

We want to spend about 10 days in Paris and go to DLP for two of those days (is that enough?)

originally I had thought we would do Paris and then move ourselves to DLP. I've rethought that and now want to just stay put in Paris but find a place that accomodates 5, is not too expensive and is convenient to getting to DLP.

I want to get a 6 day Paris Pass and then was planning to take the train to DLP. This will be at the beginning of July prior to our July 13 med cruise(with 3 day ABD precruise ABD).

Any suggestions on where to stay or if this is a feasible plan? Best location to catch the train from Paris to DLP? Is it easy? How much does it cost?

Any advice appreciated!

You need either 2 rooms in Paris (quads are difficult to find and a room for 5 people is ni impossible) or rent an appartment.

I'd suggest that you go over to Trip advisor on the Paris forum and ask them over there their recommendations. Many rent appartments in Paris and are knowledgable about it. Don't forget to give them your budget in Euros.

The RER A goes from Paris to DLP and you can buy a one day Mobilis card zones 1-5 for 15,65¬ pp adult. If you have children it depends on their ages as to which is the best card.

There are several points (Charles de Gaulle-Etoile/Auber/Chatelet-Les Halles/Gare de Lyon/Nation) where you can catch it and all these points are connected to the Metro system

In Paris there are far better options than the Paris Pass and the peeps on TA will let you know what will be best for your stay :)

I think we will probably rent an apartment. Not sure where the best location is. I mentioned this to my dh today and said we could save money by having breakfast at the apartment, but he said that finding supermarkets would be difficult. How difficult could it be? My three children are in french immersion so they all speak french well. My french is rusty, but I've got them to rely on and I can read french passably well.

Why is the Paris Pass not a good idea? The 6 day pass which included transportation, HOHO, and all the entrances to the museums was a bargain and so convenient.

How long does it take to get to DLP? Where do we get a one day MOBILIS pass? Is there such a thing as a two or three day if we want to go two or three times? Is it safe?

Thanks for the advice.

You have supermarkets all over in Paris, plus the bakers for the bread in the morning.

Navigo Découverte are what most people buy when they are staying a week or more for transport in Paris.

They are far cheaper than all the other Paris passes out there.

It takes between 35-50 minutes to get to DLP depending on where you catch the RER. The RER is very safe on that part of the line. You just must be careful with your belongings as you have the pickpockets same as on the metro and buses in central Paris.

Mobilis are one day tickets so you would buy one each day you want to travel

If you were going to DLP on 2 or 3 consecutive days it is still cheaper to buy a Mobilis for each day rather than the 2 or 3 day Paris Visite card at 33,70¬ (2 days) or 47,25¬ (3 days)

All these tickets are sold by the RATP and can be bought in the metros, RER, and at the airport.

You need to be booking an appartment very very soon as with 5 people unless you have a large budget your choices will be limited. July is high season. :)
