Here are the final totals:
On the DDP, for 8 days of CS Lunch, plus snacks, plus a TS dinner, for 3 adults and 2 children - plus any extra alcohol or drinks, plus extra appetizers or snacks, including all taxes - the grand total I paid was $1,181.17. The only thing this does not include is gratuity at our TS meals because you pay that whether you are on the DDP or not. Looking at an average, I tipped between $25 and $30 per TS meal, so if you are a hard core budget person (like me) that may give you some guidance.
OK - What if I paid OOP - the total cost for all of the above (excluding gratuities of course) would have cost me $1,844.19

That is a savings of $663.02 - I love you DDP

!!!!

Now here are some final thoughts:
1. I love saving money, and at WDW, we all know a trip like this can be the same as the annual GDP of a small country

- so on that basis alone, I have to give the DDP a thumbs up!
2. The Food Positives - If you haven't noticed, we really did eat a variety of different foods, and ate at different types of places. In the trips I have taken to WDW in the past, by day 3 I was really sick of eating out, and it felt like the same old thing over and over and I was longing for my DW's home cooking. This trip was way different. The mix of foods and atmospheres made it enjoyable, and each day was exciting for us to try a new place with new tastes. We never got bored, and if we wanted to switch something up we did so. All in all, this was a huge positive
3. List of Favorites - I would have to say that Boma is my new favorite buffet, and would love to go there again (we couldn't get in for breakfast on our last day

). Marrakesh and Tutto Italia were welcome surprises - so check those out if you get a chance. And of course, the Bread Pudding

at Ohana will go down as my all time favorite dessert at WDW.
On the CS side, Tangierine Cafe is on top, followed by Yak & Yeti. For that burger fix at MK, Pecos Bill's is a winner (love that hot mushrooms and onions on that double bacon cheeseburger).
Favorite Snacks - On a hot day, those smoothies can't be beat. The school bread, rice creme and Dole Whips are right there too. For something different, I really liked the egg roll and the cinnamon almonds.
4. Dislikes - There were a few times that I wanted to swap things around (Teppen Edo for example) and I couldn't do it. Also, why can I order a smoothie at Le Cellier, but I couldn't at any other TS?
Reservations - I know this is a must, and it needs to be done in advance - and I spoke to so many other people that could not get a seat at any TS during their vacation. However, if I wanted to change something around on my TS schedule, I really couldn't. A lot of this has to do with the time of year we went, but it is still an issue to consider.
5. Now on to the most difficult and "personal issue for each family to consider" - Is the DDP right for you or not??? Well the one thing to consider is how much food do you really eat? For us, we really would not have ordered 3 desserts at lunch every day - we probably would have ordered no dessert at all, and would have saved that for dinner. We also would not have ordered drinks for everyone at lunch, as I always carry a small cooler with bottled water, which we usually have for our drink at lunch. So this would have trimmed down the OOP costs, by maybe $20 per day. Even so, we still would of had a large cost savings.
As a reminder, we ate breakfast in our room using our full kitchen. So by the time lunch rolled around, some days we were hungry, some days not so much - but we had to stop to eat lunch by a certain time so we had enough time to get hungry for our TS ADR. The #1 thing I would change if I were to do this again is to make my ADR's later. All of my ADR's were at 6:00, except for a few that were at 5:30, or 5:45. We should have made ADR's for 7:00pm or maybe 7:30pm. We would have been more hungry for dinner and this would have flowed better with our day.
Also, some days we really didn't feel like a full dinner, because lunch was so good - we could have just had something small. We could have done a few character breakfasts to mix things up a bit, and maybe that would have been a better option so we had some nights where we just had our CS for dinner and snack around lunch, with breakfast as a brunch.
Finally - Would we do the DDP again? I would have to say that given everything above, we would do it again

. Instead of looking to save money on the plan, or to maximize the whole thing, I would look to just be happy with a break even and make better choices with my ADR's - like a character breakfast, or maybe a TS lunch. I sort of looked at this first try with the DDP as I do with a cruise. When I get in front of all that cruise food, I get the sense that I HAVE to get my monies worth in the food (since it is prepaid) and I end up over doing it. Instead, it was nice to not have a big fat bill at the end of every meal, and have that concern - am I over budget?

under budget? - how much more can I spend? - etc. All of that goes away with the prepaid DDP, and I can just enjoy the meal. In the end, that alone was worth it to me - and to my family. My kids are great, and with out my prompting, they tend to look for the lower priced menu items when we go out to eat (DS18 is very thoughtful in this way). It took them a couple of days to get used to the fact that they could order anything, irregardless of price - so it was fun for them too.
So that is all I have to share for now - unless you have any questions for me. I had a great time doing this, and I was excited to hear your comments that I may have helped you out in any way -even if it was small. I really appreciate the first folks that posted comments the first few days, as I was going to scrap the whole thing because of the technology issues - but you all kept me going (thanks DISers

). Finally, thank you to everyone who was complimentary to me and especially my family. I had reservations about "posting their pictures on the internet" - but you all made it ok - so again, thank you for your kind words.
We probably won't go back to WDW for 2 or 3 years, so I will be living vicariously through all of your threads and posts, so keep em coming. Thanks for sharing our vacation with us!!!
And have a Happy Easter!!
