Family of 5; First Time DDP - At WDW Now!!! 4/1/09 to 4/10/09

Great reviews as usual! The animal are great as well! I love the pic of the giraffe looking up. May I ask what type of camera you use? I am looking to buy a new one soon. :)

I am using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4. I bought it at Costco for under $200 I think. It is a 10MP camera, but we got it becuse it has a 10X zoom and can go digital to 15X (I think). Most cameras do 3X or maybe 5X. I still wanted a small size, with the large zoom, so this was the best I could find.

Your reaction to Boma was pretty much like ours. Just want to throw an idea or suggestion your way: Try it for breakfast, oh my oh my

We had dinner there in 2007 and I did breakfast there in Feb, once again fabulous. I ended up with the same server again, Rahim, he too was fabulous. He ended up looking for me on several occassions as I made numerous trips to the pods. By the way that item you couldn't name, may have been pap. The also serve pap at breakfast and it is a lot like grits. There are sauces available there too.

If you've already committed those credits and aren't changing I thought $16.99 was a fair price for I what I considered a wonderful brunch. Its only $9.99 for children. I'm actually thinking we'll do this OOP on our upcoming DP trip. We are a family of 2 Adults and a 7yo boy. If you decide to add this you may want to pay OOP for a non buffet child meal as they are usually less than $9.99, then use their credit here. We did this at Narcoossee's, spent $6 for the child meal there and saved his 2TS for other meals.

I'll see if we can get in, maybe for Friday morning. We leave Friday evening, so we are off the DDP after tomorrow - and we need to eat breakfast somewhere as I will be out of groceries by then too. Thanks for the tip.:thumbsup2

Just read your whole review, made me so excited to make my ADR's Sunday! Thanks so much for posting... lots of my wishes on here! YUM!! ENjoy your last two days!

I have to second this suggestion - BEST breakfast in all of WDW! Carved meats for breakfast as well!;)

Just discovered your dining reviews this morning and am all caught up - very entertaining and I read it in one sitting. I was going to split it up, but it was so interesting that I just kept going.

I enjoyed reading your stories about your oldest son and I can relate as there is a 10 year age difference between my oldest and youngest. I too have two boys and my daughter is my baby!! They are older now (26, 21 and 16) so that age gap does seem to shorten as they get older and they all like doing the same things now.

Can't wait to read about Teppan Edo as I have an ADR there four our June trip and I have never eaten there before. I was jealous of your Le Cellier review - that is one of my favorite restaurants and I have been unable to snag a reservation there for June. I will keep trying though!

Just got all caught up and still loving your reviews. Boma dinner looks fantastic - can't wait to try the place for breakfast and dinner in October :thumbsup2

Just wanted to say that I have been following your posts also. Great reviews! Your family is just beautiful!

Wonderful reviews and pictures!!!! What a beautiful family you have!!

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and pictures!

Another great day of reviews - thank you so much!

It sounds like you were there for the crowds - if you hadn't heard, they did close MK yesterday for a bit and there is a thread on the disboards about it.

Thank you for your great reviews and for taking time out of your trip to do them! You are helping me plan our meals on our next trip.:)

I have lurked on this board for a couple of months but I had to register today to tell you how much I have enjoyed your reviews. I love all the details you are sharing and the info about what you are saving. I know my husband will be happy that we made the right choice to try the DDP on our 2nd trip to WDW in June. There is something fun about a "live" review!! Thanks for taking them the time to update each day and tell your family they are great sports to be in all the pictures with the food. :) Looking forward to more reviews - hope you all are have a great day in the parks today!!:goodvibes

Thanks again for the information. I really enjoyed the review of Boma because I thought it might be too adventurous for us but after reading your review - probably not. I have also been telling my husband about your review because we are thinking about using the dining plan for our Nov. trip but I think he thinks its not worth the money. Were you skeptical before this trip that it would save you money or did you already know where you wanted to eat and therefore it just made sense? Just trying to get in my DH's head :)

Thanks.
Dawn

First off - welcome to those that are just joining in, and thank you all for the warm comments - we appreciate it:).

In re: to going to Boma, yes, just take the bus from AK to AK Lodge. It takes 5 minutes and is super close. Now getting from AKL back to your resort is a different thing. The buses don't go straight from resort to resort, so just get on the bus back to AK or to another park, then take the bus to your resort. The quicker way is to just grab a cab back to your resort (assuming that is where you are headed). A cab back to BWV cost me $15.00 with tip.

Now to answer the question I quoted above. I was very unsure about the DDP. Because we are DVC members, we tend to buy more groceries, plus to save a few dollars, we tend to do the TS restaurants at lunch instead of dinner, then do dinner at a CS or back in the room. However, for us so far, there is a big savings in what we are doing. I will give a full recap, probably on Saturday when I get back home. That will give you some more insight once I analyze the numbers.

Just back from an early day at AK - off to the DVC member update and then Teppan Edo - so I will check back in tonight.

Getting to Boma from AK is simple on the Disney bus and is about 5 mins from AK. You can actually see AKL as soon as the bus turns right out of the AK parking lot.

Getting back to a WDW resort after dining at Boma, there are two ways on Disney transportation:

1. Take a bus to a park (AK is probably closed after dinner at Boma) then a bus to your resort.

2. Take a bus to Downtown Disney then a bus to your resort.

I'm loving your reviews!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

You have a great family and your DW is gorgeous!!
