Hi Everyone, just trying to figure out, if my family of 4 DH,DW,DS3,DS=6months should do dining plan or just go no plan ...Can anyone tell me the cost of a average day of ordering food what the cost might be if not on a plan...like a day in the MK? Visiting in June '07!!Thank you for all your help!!! laura

The trouble with your question is How do you eat? the cost for snacks and fast food for a day for your family will be a lot different than if you eat three full meals a day plus snacks. in the past food budget for hubby and myself ran about $200 a day or so. So for us the plan is a bargain even if we buy breakfasts separately, [we do sit down breakfasts]

what would a days menus for your family at a park look like? then someone can give you an idea what your out of pocket vs plan costs would be.

Check out the menus allearsnet.com to get a basic idea of what your typical day's meals would cost. Don't forget tax and tip.

Compare that number to what you'd spend on the DDP and you'll have a decent idea of what to do. Add in factors like how much prepayment matters to you, whether TS or character meals are important or not, etc. Don't forget that the 6 month old would not have to pay for the DDP and could eat off your plate for free.

It's also worth taking a look at your typical eating habits and seeing if the DDE would be a better deal for you.

Enjoy!

We are a family of 4 people and we have had the dining plan, so it is about $100 per day. It is kind of hard to compare because if we pay on our own we usually do not get all of the desserts and appatizers. We usually order 2 adult entrees and 2 kids meals since our two kids are 5 years old. When we go to a counter service at MK I have looked at the bill and it is usually around $50. We eat at places like LeCellier and our bill for lunch was $125. So in those instances it more than pays for itself. I have also tried appetizers that I would have never ordered without the meal plan, but loved. IE. Chili Nachos at Whispering Canyon.

We were just at Disneyland and we missed the meal plan. It was so nice at WDW to just show your card for the snacks instead of having to pay cash. It seems to me that you at least break even if you have the dining plan and there is also the convenience factor. We are going back in April and we have booked the dining plan.
