Family need to check in together during free dining?

My children and I are booked during the free dining promotion for a week in September. My husband is now considering coming along, but he can't leave the same time we are. Does he have to be along when we check in? I thought I read once that they required everyone to be together during check in.

I'm the only one who ever checks in for us. Easier not to have the kids right there so hubby keeps them busy.

I believe this is true if you have the free dining. Everyone must be there for the check-in

In the past there were people who actually listed fictitious people on their reservations to get more credits for the dining.

I have a question, how can you add someone to an existing ressie since the free dining offer period is over? I thought it ended June 24th.

I believe you can as long as it is before the 45 day period.

I just called to check on this, and as long as you are not adding a room and you are not at room capacity, you can add extra people. They allow only two adults in a room at the rate quoted so if the addition will exceed that amount you need to pay an extra $10/night. Like any package, an additions need to have the same number of park days as you, etc. The CM I talked with said that it can be done anytime before your trip without a fee because it is considered an upgrade. He defined upgrade as spending more money.


I also asked the CM about my original question (everyone present at check in) and he said it was not necessary. I hope he's right!!!

Disney reserves the right to require you all to be there at check in. If someone is not there they may not get their dining credit and room key until they check in at the front desk.
