Family Magic Tour at MK review wanted

Bumping--we're scheduled for this in May. Would love to see some reviews.

I've did it and we loved it. If you are a very reserved personality you won't love it as much. Have fun, be a kid (especially if you kids with you) and you'll have great fun.

DD and I did this last May. We loved it!!! Again you must be willing to have fun and make a fool of yourself. Another great thing that I appreciate Disney doing is that when we were in line for our ride at the end with Peter Pan and Wendy they had a CM "block" (for lack of a better term) each end of the group so that only those kids who were apart of the tour had the attention of the characters. At the time DD didn't know how to read well so she felt left out of the map reading (not a big deal in the grand scheme of things) so we plan on doing it again now that it isn't a problem! Any specific questions?

We took the tour in Jan, there were a number of families ranging in age from 2 year old kids to 76 year old grandparents. You meet near City Hall and follow clues to get to your final destination. We had a CM that was funny and the whole group enjoyed interacting with him. Our particular tour centered around finding Capt'n Hook's hook, although others that were there later in the week had a different storyline.

As mentioned bring along your sense of humor, ability to poke fun at yourself and also the ability to act a LOT silly in front of every person in the MK. It really makes it more enjoyable, esp for the kids, when the parents do get involved & have fun.

The picture session at the end of the hunt with PP & Wendy was priceless & we ended up going to Mickey's Philharmagic with them. We also got the "VIP" treatment while waiting in line, but DS felt bad for 2 kids who wanted Peter's picture. Sat in the front row of the show & PP & Wendy commented on the different characters & happenings thru the show. Very cute interaction & well worth the money, IMO!

We booked the tour and I am so excited! We're going as a surprise for my son's 8th birthday and this tour will be one of our very first things to do. He did the "Pirate Cruise" last December from the Grand Floridian and talks about it to this day.

We (the adults) shouldn't have any problems since I'm a kid in a grown-ups body and my husband (though a bit more stoic and reserved) will join in on the fun gladly.

Personally, I'm hoping that for the "ride" we get to do Peter Pan's Flight...the wait time for that ride is always sooooo long and it's one of mine (and my son's) favorite rides...we love yelling "Hook is a codfish" at the end! I'm guessing, however, if the group is big that it will have to be Philharmagic (which we like too).

Now, I really can't wait to tell my son about his surprise trip! :yay: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We did this tour in January with DD5 and DS3. The kids in the group ranged from toddlers up to about age 11. The kids who could read got to take turns reading clues and they all really enjoyed that. DD5 absolutely LOVED this tour. She had a blast tearing all over the park and then got to sit next to Wendy at Mickey's Philharmagic. We got a great family picture with Peter Pan and Wendy and a certificate signed by them and <gasp> Tinker Bell. We had to do all kinds of silly things that attracted a lot of attention from other visitors. It was a really good time.

There were two teenagers ~15 who were along with their younger brother. They were good sports and did most of the silly stuff, but seemed embarrassed and uncomfortable most of the time. They certainly didn't hurt anyone else's fun, but I felt kind of sorry for them as I'm sure they would have had a much better time doing other stuff.

DS3 did NOT have a good time!!! He's a pretty demanding kid and although we did the tour on the 5th day of our trip, he still was REALLY upset he didn't get to go on all the rides we were passing. DH and I wished one of us (but we couldn't decide which one since we both loved the tour) had stayed with him and just went on rides. The games we played were a bit over his head and he just didn't enjoy the experience. There was a 2-yr-old in our group who also got a little bored. In my opinion, the tour is designed for ages maybe 4-12.

One last thing- our Peter Pan was absolutely hilarious. He NEVER stopped talking the entire time he was with us. We had to wait ~ 10 minutes for Mickey's Phil and he never was quiet and then talked through the whole show. I don't know how he did it! If you're looking for a job for your ADHD son, Peter Pan at WDW could be an option :teeth:

We did this tour a couple years ago. There were children and adults of all ages and the tour leader was very good at getting everyone involved.

I think this tour is a remarkably good value. For two hours plus you are treated like VIPs!

susykt4 you must have had the same Peter Pan we did! I told Wendy she must have waited fifty years to tell Peter he talks too much. (Recall Peter told Wendy that in the movie). She just laughed and said "I tell him that every day!"

Did those who did the tour sign up in advance or same day? We did Behind the Seeds and were able to sign up that same morning but I assume that the Family Magic Tour would be more popular.

We loved the tour but I have an FYI - I would recommend that you do this tour after you have spent some time in the MK, NOT on your first morning. You will be going through the park and passing many rides and some children (according to several reviews I've read) get upset when they are not able to ride Buzz or POC or whatever till later. I guess it would depend on your children, but I can see that my younger ones would really have been torn between that tour and all the rides we were passing. Just something to consider!

Although it makes sense that they would ride Peter Pan's Flight, the CM told me they don't ride that because all the kids can't fit in 1 car with Peter. Our group rode It's A Small World and all the children sat in the first 2 rows with Peter Pan.

Our sons were 3 and 5 when we did this. Our 5 year old loved it and it helped that he could read. As a previous poster said, our 3 year old got bored quickly. The group let him carry the map a lot and he did like that. pirate:

I think there is a small age range for maximum enjoyment! Kids that are too young won't "get" the full experience and kids that are 12+ don't necessarily feel comfortable acting silly in public. It was fun watching the park guests wondering what we were doing! :teeth: We got a lot of strange looks!

We also rode Small World and then entire group fit into one boat! It was a very tight squeeze, let me tell you.

DD6 walked the entire way to the ride holding Peter Pan's hand and never let go. She sat next to him and was just enthralled! Here's a picture of the two of them on the IASW
