Ops Question
Am I thinking correctly

Use year is August, just bought so I have 06 points avail and more comming on Aug 07.
I would like to book for Jan 08 SSR 2/2bedroom villas and 1/1bedroom villa

Can I
1- Borrow 07 points and book for 08 now with the 11 mo window, and then have to locate 70 points rent or xfer to complete the booking
2-Bank 06, wait until Aug 07 use 06,07 and borrow 70 from 08. In this scenario I loose the 11 mo window but do not need to source 70 additional points. Avail may be an issue.

If both are possible which is better based on any similar experience?
TIA

3. Do my first add on for 35 points, lmao not really an option!!

It helps to think of your points this way: With an Aug UY,

your 2006 points are valid for stays Aug 1, 2006 - Jul 31, 2007
your 2007 points are valid for stays Aug 1, 2007 - Jul 31, 2008
your 2008 points are valid for stays Aug 1, 2008 - Jul 31, 2009

The Jan 08 trip is in your 2007 Use Year (Aug 1, 2007 - Jul 31, 2008) so you would use 2007 UY points for that stay. If you bank your 2006 points, they become valid for stays from Aug 1, 2007 - Jul 31, 2008 so you could also use banked '06 points for that trip. You could also borrow points from your 2008 UY, moving them "up" a year and making them valid for use in your '07 UY. Just be aware that banking and borrowing are final transactions. If you ended up cancelling all or part of your reservation, the banked and borrowed points would remain in your 2007 UY and would expire on Jul 31, 2008 if you didn't use them for some other trip.

You can book your home resort 11 months prior to your check-out date, regardless of your Use Year. You don't mention the exact trip dates but if your check-out date is on or prior to Jan 23rd, you can call MS today (Fri Feb 23rd) to make your reservation.

Hope this helps.

Go with 2. You won't lose the 11 month advantage as long as you are reserving at your home resort. Jan 08 falls in your Aug 07 use year. Make your reservation now for Jan 08 (unless you are looking at the end of the month and then you only have a few days to go).

I think I got it
The use year I make the reservation does not have to have all of the points available but the use year I use the reservation would need to have access to all of the required points.
For my example making the reservation in the 06 UY for trip in the 07UY is ok because in the 07 UY I will have banked 06 available and potential to borrow 08 if need be.
The info you all provide is invaluable.
I thought I needed to somehow have all those points available now at the time of booking.!!!
:worship:

Just tell MS that you want to bank your 06 points to use for the Jan 08 trip. If you just joined, they should let you bank 100% of the points, even though you are just past that deadline (end of Jan was the deadline). See what they say.

You've got it! :thumbsup2
