Can anyone comment on the run in Sept? We would be interested in doing the Family Fun Run 5K. Are there lots of families? Does everyone run or do some walk? Crowd levels after the race during that week?

We just did the Susan Komen Race for the Cure this weekend and we had a blast. We are dh, myself, dd 10, ds 7. The kids did great. We ran for a bit and then walked, ran again until we got tired and then walked.

Any info, comments or help appreciated.
Thanks!

I am lurking too... My sister and I are doing the 5k and I am curious what to expect...

We did it last year. It was me, my best friend from college and my 10 year old. It was a lot of fun. We ran some and walked some and I'd say we finished somewhere in the middle. The characters were cheering you on through all different areas of the park, which was really cool. People took their cameras and would stop and take a quick pic but I don't think they encouraged that. There was a lot of families and individuals, people with strollers, etc. I liked it so much, I'm going to try the 1/2 marathon this year and I hated running before this. Of course, it is really just another excuse to go to Disneyland!:rolleyes1

I ran the half marathon last year, but watched the 5k while my 10 year old DD ran it. It looked really fun...so fun I signed up for both the half marathon and the 5k this year. My daughter loved it and ran the whole thing, but I saw people walking as well as running. Keep in mind this isn't a timed race, so it is truly a "fun run." The finish line is crowded, but it is easy to find my daughter. It was a really fun finish line with the announcer dressed as a pirate and the fab five also dressed in pirate gear. Characters also cheer you on throughout the run.

I think a big benefit to this over the half marathon is the amount of time you get to spend running in the park.

As for crowd levels at the park, this year is going to be quite different since it is on Labor Day weekend. I DREAD the crowds, but it allowed me to talk my DH into another trip this May!

My DD and i did the 5k last year (the search function should find lots of threads) My DH did the 1/2 marathon. I will post some pix after work. It was very fun. It is not timed as in a "chip" but they do a sweep since they have to open the parks on time.......you should be able to walk (3) 15-16 minute miles to finish on time.

Thanks so much for the responses! It sounds really exciting! I'll do a search and see what else I come up with.

Let's see if I can get this to fly with dh. LOL!
