Family Beaches on Atlantic Side

Does anyone know of any nice beaches on the Atlantic side? Doesn't matter if it's Florida, or the Carolinas. We're looking for something like Gulf Shores/Fort Morgan. There doesn't have to be alot of activity, just looking for some peace and quiet to sunbathe and play in the ocean.

South Carolina: Kiawah, Seabrook, Pawley's Island

North Carolina: Litchfield

These are relatively quiet beaches within easy driving distance to larger towns.
I'm sure there are many more - these are just a few that I am familiar with. I prefer quiet, too

These would be my choices too, but Litchfield is actually in SC, not NC.

Family friendly beaches in NC: Sunset, Wrightsville, and Atlantic.

Emerald Isle, NC is a good one, and it's about 20 minutes from Morehead City and 20 minutes from Jacksonville. It can get crowded, but it is very family friendly!

From north to south:

Outter Banks... or just about anywhere on the NC Coast.
Myrtle Beach area, both Horry and Georgetown Counties (from NMB to Pawleys Island... quieter to the south)
Hilton Head Island
Jekyll Island, GA (extremely quiet)
Amelia Island, FL
St. Augustine Beach, FL
Vero Beach area (rent DVC points )

I'm sure there are tons I've missed.. you could even throw Ocean City, MD and VA Beach in there too.

Emerald Isle, NC is a good one, and it's about 20 minutes from Morehead City and 20 minutes from Jacksonville. It can get crowded, but it is very family friendly!

I love Emerald Isle. It was extremely quiet there, but my family always rented a house on the beach and brought at least 12 people down with us. Always was a fun time.

Another recommendation for Amelia Island, FL.
We are in the mountains of NC and it is the same distance for us to drive to Amelia Island than to the coast of NC.
