I apologize if this seems a silly question but as Dad who is planning a trip with his 6 yr old daughter one of my bigger concerns when at the parks...are there family bathrooms in the parks, I don't recall if there are and I'm not comfortable letting her go to the washroom alone in the parks. She is too old now to take in the mens room with me anymore. It will just be the 2 of us on the trip. Again I apologize if this is silly but it is a concern for me.

Disney does not have Family restrooms. They do have companion restrooms for those needing assistance. They are listed in Disney guide for Disabilities but not on the regular maps. Also, you may want to consider the Babycare centers. The one at MK has a "unisex" restroom.

Perfect...Thank-you!!!

The baby centers will not be that accessible being there is only one in each park. With a little research, you can know where the companion restrooms are - there several in every park. The companion restrooms are not just for people with disabilities, they are for people who need assistance - a single man with a young girl would qualify as that. I would not want my dd who will be almost 6 when we go going into the men's room as much for her comfort level but also for the comfort of the men in there.

Yes, if my husband were taking our daughter at age 6 into the parks alone, he would be using a companion restroom. They are pretty easy to find. Urinals with other men and 6 year old little girls just don't mesh LOL.

You are welcome to use the companion restrooms located throughout the parks. They are just next to the regular restrooms. They are usually in between the men's and women's rooms. There are usually one or two of them, and the door just has both a man and a woman, and usually a handicap logo and the word "companion", but it is NOT JUST for handicapped or disabled people. We use these types of restrooms as a family of 4 at Disneyland resort often. (me, DH, and two toddler boys. We do this ONLY when there is no one who is waiting for it already who is obviously disabled and needs it, but our son has autism, and rather than trying to deal with him in a TINY stall in the regular restroom, as well as trying to manage a "potty training" 3 year old, we use the companion restrooms since they are nice and large, and allow us to manage the kids better (and actually faster).

I don't know how the baby care centers work at WDW, but at Disneyland Resort, they will only allow children UNDER 42" use the restrooms in there, because they are "small potties".

We have always been welcomed into the babycare centers at WDW with a child over 42 inches. The one at Mk has non turbo flush potties lol.

I understand your concern. And agree that using the baby centers and group restrooms is a good idea. But wanted to add that maybe using restaurant bathrooms might be a good idea too. They are usually much smaller. 2-4 stalls in most lady's rooms. Not as overwhelming. I mean there has been more than one occasion that I've helped a 'little old lady' find her way out of one of those BIG bathrooms in the parks. It can be confusing to someone who hasn't been there 100 times.

AND what an awesome Daddy you are for taking her! :thumbsup2

My DD4 is still okay with going into Men's rooms with DH but I'm wondering when it is no longer appropriate?

My dh said dd was starting to "notice" the men at the urinals. That's when she became too old - that was shortly before she turned 5.
