Hubby DD3 and I will be heading to Disney World in August. I will be going to a conference a couple of days during our trip while Hubby and DD go to the parks. She is potty trained but obviously not old enough to really go in a bathroom on her own. How will my hubby handle this? Are there family restrooms or something he can go into with her to help her potty and keep an eye on her? He can't really take her into the men's room and he also can't go into the ladies rooms with her. Help???

Disney doesn't have family restrooms as you may think of them. What they have they call companion assisted bathrooms, where there are grab bars and the toilets are higher up. He can certainly take your daughter into one of those. The problem may be that there are not many of them, and they are all singles, where if it is already occupied there may be a bit of a wait. I would think he would be fine too covering her eyes and taking her into the mens room with him.

I had no issues taking my son into the ladies room at that age. He can certainly take her into the men's room and I doubt she'd be the only little girl in there.

I don't have daughters, but I do have two boys. My oldest can go by himself, but I take my youngest into the women's restroom.

In public places like theme parks, roadside stops, airports, stadiums, etc. I take my kids into the ladies room with me. They are eight and five. It might make some people a little uncomfortable but I like to keep my eye on them in such places.

I agree with the others...I see no problem with him taking her into the men's room. There will be other dads in their with their kids.

There is no reason at that age your daughter can't use the men's room with your husband in a stall. I carry toliet seat covers with me for newly potty trained children to sit on. There is no difference with a daddy taking his daughter as a mother taking her son's which I still have to do with my 5 yr old son when my husband isn't around.

I take my DD 3 into men's bathrooms now and it's never a problem. If I can get a stall, great! I'll have her stand in the corner, if not, she holds on to my pocket while I'm at the urinal.

I just assumed that there are urinals in all men's bathrooms and that there might be some men inside using those with body parts obviously exposed. I've obviously not spent much time in men's restrooms at Disney.... is this not the case?

I haven't spent a lot of time in men's rooms in general, but I do believe there are barriers in place for a bit of privacy. I'm guessing WDW does have just a long trough where they line up.

Like others, DH takes DD (now age 4) into the men's room when they're alone. He just ushers her quickly into a stall. Especially at Disney World, I'm sure no one will even give it a second thought. I'm sure there are urinals but it's not like guys are just walking around half naked all over the place. And if she catches a glimpse of some boys peeing, it won't be the end of the universe.

ETA: The baby care centers do have bathrooms with smaller toilets where he can certainly take her as well. But there's only one in each part, and a newly trained 3 year old may not be able to wait as they make their way all the way across the park.

My DH used to take me DD to the men's bathroom when she was little. Men using urinals are facing the wall, so it isn't like your DD will be able to see anything

I routinely have H take my 5 & 7 y/o into the mens room in Disney -- the lines for the ladies room are always much, much longer.

They know to hold H's hand and look at the floor while they are walking in and out. They are used to it by now :)

You can utilize the family care centers in each park. They have bathrooms.
