We are a family of five and our kids will be 5,7 and 2 at time of trip...we are planning on renting points for a studio at VGF as they look amazing and are the only studios that fit 5....someone mentioned we might be cramped.

So my question is this....would any of you with families of 5 book a studio there??? we tend to be at the parks a lot and will do afternoon resort times so won't be in the room a lot I don't think.

It is the most economical choice for us and I think the girls will LOVE the GF!

any thoughts:confused3

Really you can fit your family in any of the studio rooms. Your two year old does not count towards the number of people in a room. You could actually stay at any resort on property till they are three years old.

I think you will be fine. They do look bigger than the other studio rooms.

Thanks! they look super nice! I was advised not to do a studio at BLT so was wondering what people thought of the ones at GF

Have not stayed at VGF before. We are a family of 5 and would not choose a studio. Is your 2 year old going to be in a crib or bed? Our biggest challenge is finding rooms with enough extra floor space to accommodate the crib.

I agree. :thumbsup2
Pretty sure, The largest studios are at OKW. They also have 2 queen size beds.

She will be in a pack n play like this year. We found the poly room had lots of room for all of us and would love to stay there again. But we decided not too so our choices are garden wing CR or VGF.

We are a family of 5 and I probably wouldn't do a studio either. My kids are the exact age as yours and we are renting points to stay at BLT next time. Right now, we are doing a 2 bed, but that's just because we could get it and it wasn't much more expensive. We consider a 1 bedroom to be our ideal minimum at this point. We used to stay at the GF rooms (which have 2 queens and a convertible couch) and we felt cramped there - even with my parents in an adjoining room next door. For us, it's just really close quarters, so when even one kid has extra energy or they start to bicker at all, it gets ugly fast.

All this being said, you will be just fine in a studio if that's what you decide to do. If you go in with the right mind set and a plan for what to do when the kids fight or are bouncing off the walls, you will be totally fine :).

I have stayed 3 adults in a studio at SSR and 4 adults in a standard room at POR. I felt we had more room and felt more comfy in the standarc room at POR.

We stayed in a studio at BWV and at VWL when our little one was an "under 3" and fit fine. She was in a pack n play, and 5 months old at the time. The other 2 were 4 and 7 years old.

IIRC the younger 2 slept on the pull out sofa together. In my experience a studio is very similar to a "regular" room at a deluxe resort.

Now that our kids are older we stay CL at deluxe resorts that allow 5 in a room (though we would try POR under the right circumstances)

Why not?

The 2YO goes in the pack and play, place that near the curtains/sliding door.

Give the pull out to the 7YO, and the 5YO gets the murphy bed that folds down below the TV.

Sounds perfect to me. In the day time, just fold the murphy bed and sofa bed up for more room.

I don't think the pack and play will fit between the sofa bed out and the balcony. You might have to put the pack and play in the hallway to the bathroom. Since people have only seen the models which are not necessarily the exact same size and don't have the exact same furnature it is hard to really tell you. We are staying for opening night in a studio and I would guess after that people will have real ideas about it.

To me the more important question is how long you are staying and how much stuff you are bringing. They have not truly figured out and shown what the storage will be like in the studio- they did have 2 drawers that would fit a child's underwear for a week and nothing else in them and said they were planning on adding drawers under the bed (which will only be accessible when the couch is put up from the looks of the preview rooms. DH and I are staying for 1 night so we know we can just leave our suitcase out and get things from there but we are checking to decide if we will do studios or 1 bedrooms in the future for our trips (we bought points to take a trip there for our anniversary every year).

The last thing you will need to understand is that unless you are lucky enough to get a room at the 7 month window you will need to find a owner to rent out points and they have been asking a premium for those points ($14-16) and the studios (if any are available) are normally gone by an hour into the 7 month window so you would need an owner ready to jump on the window for you.

If you are renting points I would check to see how much more a 1 bedroom would cost. You would be able to put the kids to bed and still be able to be up in a separate room. You would have a full kitchen for quick breakfasts and snacks/drinks and you would have a w/d so you wouldn't have to pack as much. We prefer to have the extra room when we go, especially at night so you don't have to be extremely quiet or sit out on the balcony while the kids are sleeping.

Heck, a one bedroom at OKW would be about the same number of points as a studios at GFV. More than twice the room, king bed, queen sleeper sofa, twin sleeper chair, jacuzzi tub, full kitchen, washer and dryer.

A 1-bedroom standard view villa in September is 247 points. So even at a conservative rental price of $13 per point, you're looking at $3200 for the week.

Thats what I am worried about, that I wont be able to get a studio :(

We are planning a week stay but we are not in the room a lot so I feel good about the studio.

What are the chances i can get in at 11 months with someone?!

we really want to be on the monorail. If we dont book something on the monorail we will go offsite as it doesnt seem to us anyways to have the same benefits of being onsite if we are doing a moderate. we like the convenience of the monorail.

I think 11 months out is going to be tough. Most of the new owners at GFV will want to use their points to stay there. You might be stuck with seven months out with someone using non-home points and that is also going to be very tough. Everyone wants a new resort right away.

I have someone who is willing to do it for me providing she doesn't rent the points out between now and october so fingers crossed she doesn't!!!
