Families of 5-6 where do you stay?

Getting nervous our connecting room request might not be granted at CBR - even though it's not a very busy time of year (end of sept-oct). So looking for recommendations.

We stayed at Art of Animation in a Cars Suite in Feb. My kids LOVED it. Ages 6, 5, and 3. However, if your kids are not into the movies the resort is themed after then this place is not for you IMO. It is EXTREMELY themed out and colorful.

Next visit we are considering a room at POR with the little pull out for our youngest or Contemporary or Poly.

Art of Animation is our first choice usually.
After that we usually go for DVC (Bay Lake, Animal Kingdom being our favs.)

I help many larger families book trips. The least expensive route we've found is normally 2 rooms at Pop Century (or another Value resort.). You can request adjoining rooms. It's a neat option as it gives you 4 beds & 2 bathrooms + with the rooms adjoining the littles a room to go bed in one room while the doors can be left open while parents watch tv in the other room.

We stayed at All-Star Music in a Family Suite with our 4 kids, ages 6-15. Three beds for the kids (foldouts were comfy), two bathrooms, a Queen bed for us, and a kitchenette for breakfasts in the room. They are automatically in the preferred area, so a short walk to the buses. We were very happy with it.

Before our fourth turned 3, we stayed at ASMu in two connecting rooms and one room at POR. We liked POR the best, even though it was less square footage than the two rooms. We were all so tired when we got back that we all crashed, so we didn't miss getting to stay up to watch TV. My kids all liked the Murphy Bed, they took turns.

This time we'll be staying at ASMu in two connecting rooms.. I'd much rather spend money on something fun than on a fancier place to sleep.

If you're booking two rooms for a family of two parents and 3+ children, they now guarantee connecting rooms. But only in that situation.

I wouldn't trust that completely. We are a family of five who always have had our connecting room request honored until this past August. Our rooms at the BC were four doors down and across the hall from each other.

Our reservation had "connecting room guarantee" written right on it and it was still not honored. For us it worked out as our kids were 17, 15 and 12 at the time, but a few years earlier it would have been an issue.

We do DVC - bought in as our family & travelling party continued to grow. The bigger kitchens also help quite a bit as grants are early morning risers and make breakfast for the kids (and us ) before we head out for the day so save a decent amount there.

Also the cabins at for wilderness can hold six and has a kitchen and grill.

We have stayed in the cabins multiple times. The kids have so much to do at the Fort! Especially if you will have a car, as the buses make lots of stops. We like having a full size refrigerator in the full size kitchen. One of the best parts about the fort is the boat ride to MK!

We stayed at AoA last time we went and absolutely loved it. This time we got a fantastic offer and are staying at the Contemporary Resort.

We are a family of 6 and we stay in 2 value rooms. We love this option. It works for us.

If you have 5 (or 6 with one under the age of 3) you can do Port Orleans Riverside. We stayed there (but only with our two oldest, though we did request and get a room with the murphey bed) and loved it.
I am already planning our next trip we are going with all 6 of us and our youngest will be 4 and I'm 99% sure we are doing a cabin at Fort Wilderness. I feel like it has a lot of the same things we loved about Port Orleans Riverside. We also thought about DVC but ultimately the cabins seem like a good fit for us (we are without a doubt renting a vehicle for our next trip).

we have a family of 5, our girls were 12,10, and 6 on our last trip. We stayed in 2 rooms at All Stars and it was perfect. We have also stayed in the family suites in All Star Music, and they are great, as wel as 1 room in POR. We loved the feel of POR but knew the 5 of us squeezing into 1 room for 10 days was not going to work out. We booked our 2 rooms through Travelocity for las October at $90 a night each, so having 2 rooms was cheaper than 1 suite or POR. We had no trouble having connecting rooms.

We have stayed in a 2 bedroom deluxe villa at Saratoga Springs and a Cars family Suite at Art of Animation with all 6 of us. We preferred these options over 2 connecting values, family suite at ASMusic or the cabins because of the beds. DH and DS are 6'5" and 6'1" and need queen beds. Doubles and twins aren't comfortable for them. We have also stayed offsite many times where queen beds are the standard and the price is much lower. 5 of us are going in October and staying at POR. Looking forward to it!

We are planning on traveling with friends. Both have families of five and kids have traveled together before. We are debating between two suites, two rooms at POR or possibly CB if new rooms sleep 5, OR trying for three rooms at Pop and splitting the cost of the 3rd room so our big kids can room together. We'd put one of their kids on our reservation. I know we'd have to request one connecting room. Any thoughts or opinions?

We're a family of 5.

I wish we could take advantage of the Murphy Bed rooms at POR-- they sound like such a budget friendly choice, still with a fabulous pool and beautiful surroundings.

But my almost 16 year old son-- the only boy-- would NOT do well on that Murphy Bed.

We save for a few years between trips, and opt for a Deluxe. We request (when necessary) and fortunately have always gotten, a full balcony. That adds a place for me (and whoever else is ready) to have my cup of tea as the rest of the crew gets ready in the morning.

I've never been one to trust assurances that they always get connecting rooms. The balcony I could live without. But I will not spend my vacation several rooms away from the rest of my family.

We bought into DVC when we only had one child. Now we have three kids and DVC is perfect for us.

I love having a full kitchen and a washer/dryer in the room too.

We got a 2 bedroom condo on Hotwire. It was Lake Buena Vista Resort or something similar. We LOVED THIS PLACE and I'm surprised more people don't do the Hotwire route (although Priceline is often talked about here). We were able to specify that we wanted a 1 or 2 bedroom, which we got for around $90 per night during spring break. The place had a full kitchen and 2 bathrooms. After staying in a 2-bedroom for 9 days, I really couldn't imagine going back to a crammed hotel room with just a single bathroom and no kitchen.
