it might be that they are sold out i tried for a room with in nov and they had one with king and a double it a preferred room type. i put 5 adults so i guess that room will take 5 guests in it.

i tried in may and no rooms they tried to give me another resort so that may be the problem.

We are a fam of 5 and stayed at POR in Nov. We also got a roll in room and had no trouble. As PP already said they may just be booked for that room type for the dates that you selected. Try putting in different dates ( if you are flexible ). If you are still having trouble I would call and speak to someone. They can often see what dates are open and save you some time from having to try different date combos.

Would a king and double even fit in those rooms? Thats what the link for POP and All Stars say too...

Ive tried a bunch of dates and it keeps sending me to different resorts!!

That means their sold out for those rooms it proberly a busy time and being their only two building that can handle 5 guest they go fast. And the French quarter only allows 4 guest so every guest who needed five and wanted to stay at pod had to book that resort.

it might but with the king you can fit two and the double another two not sure where the fifth would go unless their a sleeper they don't list. as pp said i would call and see what your best option would be when i tried june 29 it gave me aoa resort four family suite that where accessible you could choose the cars building little mermaid and another the other one.

it may be a day their sold out that ruin the rest so if you call they might be able to tell you if everyday you want sold out or just a couple or one. that happens a lot and online won't tell you it just tell you to pick another resort.

After fooling around with dates... My original dates were booked. But it looks like they only have accessible rooms for family of 5 in the preferred section, none at the standard price.

A few details please:

Is the accessible room price the same as any room in the preferred section?

What do yolu mean as standard price?

It is not legal to charge more for an accessible room than for a regular room in the same category.
POR has certain room categories that they charge more for. The rooms not in those categories are standard price (the price you usually see advertised as thr resort price).
One category is view. There is a higher price per night for water view rooms. That has been in effect since the resort opened.

The preferred section is a another separate booking category and does cost more than standard.
I believe the preferred locations are buildings 14, 15, 18 and 27, which are close to the check in area, food court, shops, etc.
Because many people wanted and requested those buildings, they made it a separate category that can be booked for people who are willing to pay the extra charge.

The accessible room in the preferred section cost the same as a non accessible room in the preferred section. What I was saying was there were no standard view H.A. rooms that I was able to come across that are accessible to a family of 5.

I called Disney yesterday and the CM tried telling me a family of 5 cant book an accessible room. So I told her I was able to fool around with dates online and it was allowing me to. So after being put on hold 4 seperate times..I was able to book a roll in shower room.. She was telling me I had a king/full room that would only fit four. Not sure what changed but she reassured me that they would a accomidate a family of 5. I have to say, the CM must have been new. She knew nothing about trundle bed rooms...ect. THank god I kept assuring her the computer allowed me to book bc she finally spoke with someone higher up.

The new rooms with two double beds (and the pull down bed in the AB section) should accommodate five with a younger child using the pull down as it's not as long of a bed. There may be a little less space in the room due to the bathroom being larger. I think Bill posted photos of the same room type at POFQ after they renovated the accessible rooms to put in the double beds and he was able to get around just fine using his w/c in the room.

Do they have any of the rooms with the murphy bed that are roll in shower accessible.. I thought maybe they were giving us a rollaway bed because they said they room had a full and king.

The rooms have two doubles (full beds), not a king and a double. It's not really a murphy bed so much as a pull-down bed across from the doubles that's built into a cabinet. It's really a cute little bed for a child- I know my grandkids would fight over who got to sleep on it! So you'll have the two double beds for four of you and the little pull down bed for a little one. Bill's photos showed how they redid the doorway in order to put two double beds vs. a king in the roll in shower accessible rooms. The pull down bed doesn't take up space that's needed for accessibility so it will be the same in those rooms as in the non-accessible ones.

Where are Bills pics posted... ?? Id love to see them..

They are in this forum but I'm not sure how to do a search. Maybe someone will chime in who remembers his screen name and you can search for all of his helpful posts. It was really nice to see the photos too as the layout made more sense than trying to imagine it. Maybe look under BillSears?

Here's BillSears original post about the new POFQ HA rooms. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2721309

BillSears also posted in the sticky at the top of this forum, "Wheelchair/Handicapped Accessible Room Locations and Measurements," page 9, Post #133. This thread is very helpful; there are lots of pics posted of HA rooms at different resorts.
