Falmouth Jamaica Port Stop Hurricane Melissa

Now they are Alaskaproofing the Magic I think we might see the Wonder back on the east coast at some point. Im surprised all the panama crossings released so far are the Magic honestly.
It is interesting how they put two ships in Alaska at the same time, and they are the two original sister ships.

Received email from DCL yesterday, for our Treasure November 15th Western cruise we are bypassing Jamica and stopping at Lookout Cay on 11/20  :yay::cool1:

Interesting. I assume that means they will rearrange the 11/17 Dream sailing so it can visit lookout cay on 11/19 instead of 11/20 (and then Nassau on 11/20 instead)- though the website still reflects the original plan of being at LC on 11/20.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case for months. 3 Sandals Resorts are staying closed until May 2026, 5 others are reopening early December (at the moment). Other brands I saw were until January 2026.

There's a difference in stopping in a port where one area is compromised such that you can make the case for Lahaina in Hawaii where they needed the tourism dollars for Hawaii as a whole. But with Jamaica a majority of the island is heavily impacted. Also of note is medical facilities being gone.

They might be skipping Jamaica for a while- but subbing in Lookout Cay every week is not going to be possible. The week of 12/14 for example there is already a ship scheduled at Lookout Cay all 7 days that week. And then once the Destiny is on its regular schedule the only port days that are open on the weeks of Treasure's Western Itineraries are Mondays & Tuesdays- so subbing in Lookout those weeks would require a much larger change to the Itinerary than just subbing out the Thursday sea day.

Yeah I don't know what DCL will do there. Obviously it messes up far too much of their schedule to treat their private island as a sub-in all the time. But I do understand in the immediate moment there's a bit of wiggle room. Long-term they either need to consider if it's going to be a sea day or try and find other ports. That part will be more of a struggle with competition between other ships wanting/needing to do the same.
