My first visit to Falmouth was a few weeks ago and I would suggest that you either do a tour or just stay in the secure shopping area. Me and a friend decided to explore outside the secure area and we immediately where offered drugs and felt uncomfortable walking around this small town. We decided there was nothing of interested or anything we wanted to purchase in this town that we couldn't get in the secure area so we returned to the secure area after about 20 minutes.
We did Dunn's River Falls with lunch afterwards. I thought it was pretty fun, but found the falls a little more difficult to navigate then I anticipated. I was towards the end of the line holding hands and I think the proper place to get a foothold was lost in the down-the-line communication.
Jamaica is my least favorite port. I find the locals outside of the secure port areas to be very pushy and aggressive. My RCCL cruise docks in Falmouth next month. I tried to talk my MIL & SIL into just staying in the port area and booking a spa treatment, but that was a no go. Neither of them have been there and want to see something so we booked a tour to Good Hope Estate. It's one of the few plantations that wasn't burned to the ground during the slave uprising in the 1800's. My MIL is 77yo so we needed a mild activity.
