Good morning my sweet Goofs!

Suzanne: Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I am glad Mike could help you out. If you would like me to post monthly totals I would be happy to. The last time it left some people feeling inferior so I just left them off and opted for the team total this time.

Mike: :thumbsup2 Thank you for picking up my slack. PS...my knees hurt after LR too but they get over it (or I ignore them or something like that).

Cecilia: You afraid of 8 miles...:confused3 Come on now, you are one of my true heros on the boards!!!

Joanne/Kim: I took my Nike+ back and they took it no problem. It just did not work. I tried my new sensor with the old receiver, the new sensor with the new receiver, the old sensor with the new receiver and it just did not work. I never found it that accurate anyway and I have my Garmin. Too bad that Nike+ won't take my miles. I also never got the music download to work either. Tried it three times and it never went through. Hmmmm, must be time for an iPod upgrade....:rolleyes1

Kim: If it were me (which you are not  ) I would continue on the 3 miles that I had been doing and wait for them to catch up. Of course, that's just me. :upsidedow

All other Goofs: I hope you have a happy day today. Hey, it's almost Friday....:flower3:

As for me, I have 5-6 on tap for today. I also have a hair appointment right after work and then have to scoot across town to pick up my DS and niece and nephew at school, then walk across the parking lot to plant them somewhere so I can run around the track while my DD finishes up field hockey practice. It will be in the mid to high 80s by then on that hot black track...:sad2: Tomorrow is 5 and I should hit my mileage goal for the week of 24-25 miles. I took a better look at the half plan and the first week is 28 miles so I did not need to stress about hitting 30 before training. I just did not want to go up too many miles in a weeks time and end up hurting myself...again. So half training starts on Monday. Hoping that I get my Sunday LR in with Hanna landing here. Tomorrow is last chance workout day for this short week!!!

Yikes, Lisa! What half plan do you have the requires 28 miles in the first week?!:scared1: I think I would turn around and run the other way (for less than 28 miles!;) ) if I saw that one.

As for me, I am happy to report that I had my best run in 4 months today. I ran 3.3 miles in 32 minutes (with warm up /cool down). I felt good with no pain. Legs are slowly beginning to realize that "yes, I plan to run again."

Hope everyone has a good Thursday.

Maura

Maura, it is the plan that was in Runners World a few months back. It keeps my weekly miles in the 25-30 range so that it takes 4 weeks to train for a half, 10K, 5K and full if you crank your long run up enough. I have done the 5K and the 10K and have to say that they really worked well. There are lots of tempo and hill runs in weekly and room for XT too. It is working well so far and I have to say, I do not mind the mileage really.

Nice to see you back in the saddle Lisa!

Today was 5.3 miles, 49 minutes.

VERY rainy and slippery...but at least its done, and tomorrow is a rest day.

Lisa, thanks for the advice. I'm much too out of shape to do the 2-3-2-3 schedule, however. I'm grateful to only be doing 2-mile segments this week! Tonight was a bit better than last night. I did my 2 in 25:33.

Thursday...30 mins bike/6.27 miles

Happy Friday everyone!

LAST CHANCE WORKOUT DAY Super Goofs. Get in those miles and minutes and make them count!!!!! :cheer2:

Mike: I don't think I am totally back in the saddle yet, side saddle maybe or just bare back (stop laughing). I am trying to get on my horse though if that counts. I miscalculated my miles and instead of 24-25, I should be up in the 28 range, yay me!!! It is nice to see you back here and there but we like you here more frequently. At least I do anyway.

Kim: I am a plan follower, kind of anally actually, so I would be following the plan to the letter too. I just wanted to let you know that it is okay to step outside of it if it makes you feel better. The same plan does not work for everyone and some trainers/plan setter upper people for get that. :rolleyes1

All other Goofs: Well I said it already, get on your horse and ride people. :yay: Hit the pavement and make some noise. :yay: Get out there and get that workout in!! :yay: Boy will I be glad when the 16th comes along and I have my Jillian example again.....

As for me, I did my 5 yesterday. I ran 4 in 40:16 and walked the last mile due to the 89 degree heat and the track being so black and hot. My feet just feel like they are on fire when I run on that thing!! All in all, a good run and another for the books. I have 5 for today also. Saturday night Hanna arrives here and I have 9 on for Sunday so they may be wet soggy miles but miles all the same. :sad2: It will be nice to have Hanna blow through and cool our weather off. I cannot even sleep at night it is so sticky. I don't know how you southern people do it...I know AC. :cool2: I also talked to my stylist about my ugly toe (not the blisters the brittle broken nail) and she said my nails were a might too long and they were stressing in the wrong place. Go figure, me stressing in the wrong place. :headache: Anyway, she told me that she thought polish would hold the nail as the break was not all the way through and to try that. If it does not work, she will put some acrylic on it and hold the nail together at least through the HM. My nails are now trimmed, polished and almost look normal. Again, go figure, me normal...:upsidedow

That's all the news that is news from your captain. Have a great FRIDAY everyone and yes, get out there and get your steps in today!! :dance3:

Well I went to the Doc yesterday and he confirmed that I have IT band syndrome and weak hips. Have exercises and stretches to do, although I have been doing stuff all along, so we'll see how this goes. While I didn't necessarily expect/learn anything new./different, I did like the Doc. He was empathetic, answered at least one question I had before I even asked, and operated under the assumption that I was going to continue running so we needed to deal with the issues (vs telling me to stop runnning)

Anyway, today I did 30 minutes on the bike (8 miles) and 10 minutes of the leg exercises.

Maura

Cecilia: You afraid of 8 miles...:confused3 Come on now, you are one of my true heros on the boards!!!

Its not the 8 miler I am afraid of. Its the 8 straight weeks of increasing mileage! I have decided that it is not a good idea to look at your training plan immediately after a hill run.

The biggest issue I am facing this year is that my Doctor won't let me take asprin/ibuprofin yet, so when my legs ache I just have to deal with it. Its my own fault for slacking off so much this summer! I shouldn't even be feeling this mileage yet!!

I have surgery next friday and I think I will get the go ahead to use meds once that is over. They claim that I will be able to run the day after the surgery but don't they always say that then when its over they tell you "no you should rest a few days" I plan on having my LSR on Thursday so that I will only need a 4 miler on Saturday just in case they try to sabotage me.

Tuesday: 6 miles in 1:01:12

I am heading out for another run as soon as my Garmin charges up so I will post that in a little while.

Cecilia

Good morning Goofs! Sorry I have been MIA for awhile. With my friend Nancy off work for 3 weeks, I was a very busy camper! (and not a happy camper!)

So, my miles have suffered over the past few weeks.....thank goodness I had some races to double some up! I think I am running the Philly Distance run next weekend, and then I am on board for the Toronto 1/2 marathon a week later.......yes, Goofs, that means I am doing 3 1/2 marathons in a month's time, and yes.....I am crazy!:joker: :clown:

My friend Heidi (who ran the VA beach run) want's the Beach to Bell medal, and had no one else to go with her. I can't let her down, and I can't go and not run.....hence my early morning registration! I just hope I don't die......

Yesterday 9/4
Time: 45 min
Miles: 4

Beth

Go Beth! Have fun!

4.05 miles in 40:55

Its 86 and humid so I am a virtual puddle of sweat.

Cecilia

Boy is it hot today!
3 miles in 40 (I walked some- I was dying!)
13 miles for Sunday!

19.2 miles, 3 hours, 10 pounds lost....

Off for an icebath and re-hydrate...

Just had my first training run with TNT. 4 miles in just about an hour. (I forgot to pause my Nike band during our water stops). A fun run with a nice group of people, and now I know about a nice trail I never knew existed!

Rest day for me.

One hour body flow class (yoga, tai chi, and pilates- fun) followed by a hour body pump class. All in prep for my 13 miles tomorrow!

Hey everyone! Hope you are having a great weekend!

Lisa, I thought I posted my DL miles on here but I don't see it. Maybe I'm just blind or maybe I'm just going crazy.

Disneyland was a lot of fun. THe medals are awesome - especially, the coast-to-coast. I'm lucky to have been able to go. However, I'm not sure I'll be doing it again anytime soon. The course itself wasn't bad but there were a lot of bottlenecks. Not good if you're going for a PR (which I wasn't). I'm slow so it didn't bother me. Running through both parks was fun. Since this race took place during Labor Day weekend, the parks were ultra crowded (as expected). There was so much that I didn't get to see and do. And, it was hot and humid. I'm not sure why Disney chose this weekend. The inaugural half took place mid to late Sept. if I recall correctly. It seems like that would be a much better time. However, maybe the timing has something to do with tying up traffic during regular weekends. I don't know. :confused3 All in all, it was a good weekend, just a little too crowded for my taste.

Lisa - I admire the fact that you are getting in 25-30 miles per week. I wish I could do that. I just need to build up to it, I guess. I'm too lazy right now. :p You go, girl!

Mike - are you training for a full?

Kim - congrats on your 10K time. You are doing really well!!!! I sure wish we had a TNT chapter in Arkansas. I'd love to join the team. :(

Maura - sending you some :wizard: for a speedy recovery. Will you be going to physical therapy?

Beth - even after taking some time off, you're still speedy!

groovygirls - good luck with your 13 miles. I'm just glad I don't have to do it. My time is coming, though. :teeth:

Suzanne - keep up the good work! You're really coming along well. :thumbsup2
