Falling Branches, oh my!

We were in Disneyland several years ago when a large branch from a real tree fell in Frontierland by the Mark Twain. Fortunately no one was injured and the CM's were very professional about rerouting foot traffic around the area. Meanwhile, there was a lot of air traffic -- helicopters overhead -- with the local news stations trying to outdo each other with their news coverage.

I thought everything I read said the branch didn't fall near any guest or cast areas?
This sounds pretty close to a guest area....

I was surprised to read that, too. It was definitely both near guests and in a guest area. I guess because no one was hurt they don't want to panic people. I didn't pick it up, but it was probably more than 5 lbs, too. It wasn't huge, maybe 4 feet long or so, with a couple large leaves, but with the metal structure inside, it was probably a little heavier.
