This is my first time doing dining reviews so please bear with me. I meant to do these back in November but life kind of got in the way. So over the next couple of weeks I'll be adding reviews. Most of these restaurants I've done numerous times but I also have a couple of first timers (red text). I'll be adding photos, if available, in many of the reviews.

Restaurant list:

Oct 24: Dinner - Rose & Crown
Oct 25: Dinner - Narcoosee's
Oct 26: Lunch - Via Napoli
Oct 27: Artist Point
Oct 28: Breakfast - Olivia's Cafe & Dinner - Territory Lounge
Oct 29: Dinner - Yachtsman Steakhouse
Oct 30: Lunch - Hollywood Brown Derby
Oct 31: Lunch - Tony's Town Square
Nov 1: Jiko's

Tuesday Oct 24 – Arrival Day Rose & Crown

First off, I apologize for the quality of some of the food photos.

The Rose and Crown is one of the restaurants that I do every trip to WDW. It’s just become tradition. After Epcot first opened, my Mom, I, and my niece would go here every trip, so I continue that tradition by making sure I make a reservation every year. Years ago, the Rose & Crown used to offer an afternoon tea service, which we would usually book. It was so good but alas they don’t serve tea anymore, so I usually settle for a lunch reservation. An early lunch reservation is a bit easier to get than a dinner reservation, particularly during the holiday season. I don’t know what it is, but it’s been almost impossible to get anything after 4:00. I think it may be the Candlelight Processional, as we usually go in December, and the fact that they may hold back reservations for that event. Whatever it is, I was very happy to score a 7:40 PM dinner reservation this past trip. Of course, this being arrival day, I was a bit concerned and was hoping that all went well with our afternoon flight. Thankfully it did, and we arrived with more than enough time to head to Epcot for our reservation. We were lucky enough to get an outside table and while the waitress was seating us she asked us if we would like to stay for Illuminations. It was a beautiful evening although a bit on the cool side, but I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to see Illuminations without having to stand around and wait on another night or use a FP. So, of course I said, “Yes, most definitely!” I’m guessing that anyone with a reservation from 7:00 pm on they would ask the same question because to my knowledge, they weren’t taking many reservations too long after our reservation time.

It was just my husband and I on this trip and I believe I ordered a Magical Star Cocktail, although it didn't come in the traditional glass, and my husband had a glass of white wine. We also each ordered an appetizer.

I don’t usually order an appetizer at this restaurant but when I do it’s generally the Scotch Egg. It’s a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage with a small salad. I enjoy it and it’s not too heavy so it’s just right. My husband settled on the Cheese Plate. Of course, any WDW restaurant that offers a cheese plate, he is sure to order it. He loves his cheese! Both appetizers were very good as expected, and we have ordered both apps many times and they haven’t changed. For our entrees, I ordered the Bangers and Mash, this is also a tradition of mine, if it’s on the menu and it’s one of my favorite meals at WDW. My husband, much to my surprise ordered a Shepherd’s Pie. The surprise being it’s made with lamb and I’ve never known my husband to ever eat lamb or to even like it. I had to remind him there was lamb in it, but he still wanted to try it. Judging by the clean plate, I gather he liked it. I also really enjoyed my B&M as always. This entrée does change up a bit as it has been prepared in various ways and, in my opinion, it has always been delicious.

We finished well before Illuminations start time, so we ordered a dessert to split. I also ordered a pot of tea and we decided on the Warm Fruit Crumble. We were warned by the waitress that this dessert was on the tart side but that didn’t deter me as I prefer something like that as opposed to something too sweet. It was a fairly large portion and yes, it was a bit on the tart side but with the Cream Anglaise that accompanied it, it was perfect. Nice and warm and yummy! Not a crumb of crumble was left.:D

All in all, everything was very good as expected at Rose & Crown and with the addition of Illuminations, it made for a memorable meal.
