Do fall internships run from August through December? If not when do the internships start? My reason for asking is I will be taking my final class in the summer of 2007 and I am wanting to do an internship that fall. I will finish my class the last week of July so it would work out perfect if the internship started the beginning of August. Thanks in advance for any and all information.

By the way, the internships I am looking at are Retail Management or Labor Cast Deployment if that makes a difference. Thanks again.

I think it might depend on your University and their policies. At my school, the internship runs through just about the full semester you take it in. For example, I'm interning right now in the Summer semester and will finish my internship during the last week of classes and the week before finals week and graduation.

It looks like you are talking about the Professional Internships, which for the fall run June through January. If you ate talking about just the College program internship there are 2 programs you can do, one called fall advantage that runs from May/June through January or one call fall that runs August through January.

I agree. I graduated college in May (Gulp, 'O2) and did the fall program August to Jan. I have to give you a bit of warning though, if you are just doing the traditional College Program you might be disappointed if you don't get the connections and job opportunities you want being a college grad. If you are doing the Career Starter one (which they didn't offer when I went GRR) then it might be a different story.

I just wanted to add in that between my first CP (Spring 02) and my last one ( last fall, Fall '05) the opportunity for networking has increased dramatically. The Disney Learning Centers (formally Centers of Excellence) have put together a series of networking opportunities for Cast Member to take advantage of. Two of these events they hold are Career Incites and a Speaker Series.

Career incites is where they get a leader from some department to hold a semi-informal presentation about what they do, how they got there and they offer advice on what is the best way to obtain a role like theirs. And at the end of the 3-4 presentations I went to they were more then happy to stick around and answer any questions that anyone may have and give out their contact info if there are any more questions (or if you wish to continue to network with them).

The Speaker Series is some what the same thing, but its a bit more formal setting with some of the more higher ups in the Parks division.

These two events happen almost weekly somewheres on propriety (in a conference room in one of the parks or hotels). If your going on the program, watch for the Learning Center monthly calender (which the CP will mail to your apartment, or you can pick it up at any career center or on the cast portal)

But like with anything, you have to make the effort to attend these events and introduce yourself to people. The program/company will not do this for you but most managers and other leaders are more then welcome to sit down and talk with you and connect you with people they know in the parts of the company that interest you.
