Fall here already??

First off, I will admit that fall is my favorite season. It's an added bonus that I live in New England.

Today I was sitting out in my yard, mind you it's about 85 degrees and humid, when I glanced up at our beautiful sugar maple. I was surprised to see area's where the leaves have already started changing to a bright orange color. It seems to be very early for that to be taking place. Anyone else noticing signs of a change?

I live in NE too, CT. My FIL has a cabin in NH that we go to often. When we were up there last weekend, I did noticed a few trees where the leaves were turning already! Just seems so early We are going up tonite and I wonder how many will have turned since last week!

I love fall too. My birthday is in Oct, and my fav holiday is Halloween.

dlbwright, have a safe trip up to NH. We always try to get a fall foliage trip in up there. I always thought it was the cold nights that started the leaves turning, but we really haven't had any yet.

AngieBelle, when in October is your b-day? Oldest DD was born on the 16th. DH and I were married in September and we always visit Salem, Massachusetts for Halloween.

We actually never had summer here in Illinois this year. Yep, we went straight from Spring to Fall. It is about 60 degrees and cool and rainy today. Some trees are just starting to look fall-ish. I feel robbed of heat, humidity, and summer.
I guess it is payback for the "winter" we had last year. It was more like a cold fall straight into spring. Now that I can live with!

My birthday is Oct 20th. My mom's is on Halloween.

this is kinda gross, but an increase in road kill is a sure sign that fall is here. I have heard that you can always tell when spring and fall are here because of the increase in road kill, and there was a lot of it yesterday.

Yep.....leaves have started turning around here too I also love autumn.......cool crisp air, pretty colors, cider mill etc....

I's not that I don't like fall. Its a beautiful time of year HOWEVER, it means that winter is coming and I do not like winter at all. So if there is a negative about fall, it is that it is a harbinger of winter. Now if we could go from fall to spring to summer, I would feel a lot better about fall.

I LOVE Fall!!! And, I feel like I get cheated out of it here in TX. It's Nov. by the time our leaves change and even when they do, it's not a spectacular color (besides most of the leaves on my trees are falling now because of the heat!).

My DH was laughing at me because I've begun making fall types of soups and casseroles even though it can still reach 90 degrees here during the day. At least the nights are starting to cool...

Enjoy it for me, those of you in the north!

I've also noticed some of the trees starting to get color...warm days and cool nights will do it....and it's gonna drop down into the 40's tonight!
I'm definitely not a big fan of winter...I hate getting up in the dark and going home in the dark....after I cook dinner, I have no ambition, I just want to go to bed!
I wouldn't mind the winter so much if spring came in January right after Christmas....

We've got trees turning here already. And yeah, I've noticed the increase in road kill too. Might have even made a couple road pizzas myself . The squirrels are EVERYWHERE.
It's also cold here at night. I think it's supposed to drop to the 40's tonight. Even here in NH that's not early September weather. And they said it was supposed to get to 72 today, but it definitely never made it past 65. Fall's here and I'm glad.
