So, as of tonight, the last of "my" shows has it's final episode of the fall season. The rest of them all finished last week or earlier. It seems like they won't be on again until February or March. The ones we watch regularly are: Designated Survivor, Pitch, This is Us, Madam Secretary, Bull, Code Black, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Blue Bloods, Hawaii 5-0, The Blacklist and NCIS. That's a lot of prime-time on every network - anybody have any idea what will run instead?

They usually do that because people are busy this time of year with the holidays i.e. shopping, parties, gatherings etc. They usually will show Christmas movies/specials, or sports, or re-runs. I feel like this "end of fall break" is a relatively new thing. I used to remember shows taking a 2 or 3 week break for Christmas and New Years, but not a 2 or 3 months. Now it's turned into a big "fall finale" with a long break.

Depends on the networks. Some will show limited run series instead. I think ABC will be showing the game show reboots. CBS shows usually only skip the holiday weeks and come back in January. I don't watch a lot of NBC or the CW so I don't know what they do.

Code Black has a new episode next week on the 21st according to my TV Show Tracker app. But yeah, other than that, all my shows are done until the new year after tonight as well.

I always use the breaks to catch up on Netflix shows or stuff I neglected to keep up with all season (like the 7-ish episodes of Once Upon A Time sitting in my Hulu queue).

:sad2: Re-runs? {{sigh}} I guess I'll ask for roku for Christmas and actually start using my Netflix subscription...

They generally have holiday specials or pilots of new shoes to see if there's interest.
Plus there are a number of Award shows in the first couple of months each year.

I believe the NBC shows are mostly coming back in the beginning of the year.
Chicago Med and Blacklist come back in the first week.

I am glad I only watch a few prime time shows.
I hate feeling tied down every day!

I only watch Law and Order SVU, Chicago Med, and Once Upon A Time.
I used to watch 5 other shows but they went off the air one by one.

What??!! No Canadian shows on your list? For shame!!

How about Bachelor Mountie, NCIS:Saskatoon, Me and My Moose, or the historical series Mackenzie the Lyon King?

Speaking of which....... where on earth did Chicago Med go? It hasn't been on in weeks.

A number of shows had their fall finales a few weeks ago to make way for holiday specials especially on NBC.
Chicago Med returns on January 5th.
That's really not too long of a break in my opinion.
Once Upon A Time had their winter finale the last Sunday in November and it doesn't come back until MARCH! (Which usually is the case for them due to Award shows falling on Sunday evenings. So they wait until after the Oscars to come back)

I binge watch all the ones I had no time to watch. I have 29 episodes on my DVR of a few shows. Also being hockey season we have games a few times a week.

:rotfl2:Oh Red, do a little research - truth is stranger than fiction! You'd probably LOVE some real Canadian tv shows, such as Schitt's Creek (about a disgraced maple syrup mogul that buys a small town), Little Mosque on the Prairie (as if there's more than about 5 Muslim people living in rural northern Saskatchewan...), The Red Green Show (about a handyman who takes duct-tape to a whole new level) The Republic of Doyle (a tense, gritty P.I. crime drama set in St. John's, Newfoundland where about 3 crimes a year happen) and Highway to Hell (a reality show about a snowplow and tow-truck company). And most of these are CBC shows - my tax dollars at work! Seriously, you can't make this stuff up! :rotfl:

I loathe the fall break. I can see a couple of weeks but most of the shows I watch are two full months or more. I don't know why it needs to be that long.

I'm really going to miss "This Is Us" while it's on break! But I recorded a lot of holiday movies, and DH and I are behind on "The Voice" as well, so I'll watch those and then move on to Netflix.

Just watched Designated Survivor. Did I hear right that it won't be back until March? Yikes! I started out lukewarm on this one but have been enjoying it more. As the story has unfolded, it has seemed to have less stereotypical turns, or maybe I've let that go or something. Whatever the reason, I'm glad to be enjoying it more.

Haven't seen this week's yet, but we've been enjoying this one. My complaint is they've had very few consecutive weeks of episodes aired, which made it challenging to get acclimated and keep track of parts of the story.

For all that network TV moans and groans about the audience deserting them, they make some nutty scheduling choices IMO. Of course part of the fall finale epidemic may be stemming from what I just heard about Hollywood basically being shut down for business from Thanksgiving until after the New Year.
