Fall/Fall Advantage 2009 interviews

I had Nancy too. She was really nice, and I enjoyed talking with her.

Luckily I'm flying, otherwise I would have a 24+ hour drive from Massachusetts.... yuck.

And my friend has Rhonda at 10:30 tomorrow morning, I'll tell her to keep it short for you savannahjean!

:goodvibes
its a small world!
amazed at how connected the Dis gets us, to be able to know someone who knows the person interviewing before me.
I hope they do well with their interview!

I had Rhonda too, she's so nice and I know you're going to be amazing! :goodvibes Are you applying for Hospitality? I remember seeing you on the boards about being on the Dream Team. ;)

I love the sense of community here too, it's very open and friendly!

Yea I've got a 20 hour drive from NY....hopefully will be doing it with someone though I can't imagine doing it alone!

OMG...me too. I see you're in the Syracuse area I work there. I'm driving too but maybe we could do some stops together or something!

I didn't really "connect" with my interviewer. I don't remember any small talk or anything. I thought the whole thing was awkward and it probably lasted 10 minutes tops.

And I still got in sooo don't put yourself out yet!!!!!

The same with me! It felt really strange, and my interview was 15 minutes. She was nice, but it was really awkward :(

:cool1: i feel so mught lighter :rotfl2:

JUST got off the phone with Nancy for my interview.... went pretty good.. i hope.:scared:

i chose Attractions, Lifeguarding, and Recreation.

she told me to just fax the checklist.

i wanna know if i made it NOW! haha

How long did it take for you to recieve your confirmation/denial letter?

she told me 3-4 weeks.

Hey, I'm new here. Just had my interview this morning.

Went pretty good... I hope.

The computers were down so I had to re-tell everything on my application.

I want Transportation, with hope of the Monorail!

Interview was just over 20 minutes.

Mostly questions about dealing with the general public, why CP, etc... (No Space Mountain) Questions about other roles too. But mostly Monorail.

I was told that I would hear in 2-3 weeks and that she was very excited for me.

We will see what happens... good luck everybody.

On the website, it says 4-6 weeks. But it usually comes sooner (around 3 weeks).

It would be nice to get it sometime next week, I guess it would be the two week mark next week. My birthday is saturday, it would be a nice belated birthday gift...:hyper:

I've been a bit of a lurker on the College board for a while now but haven't actually posted anything. I love that there are so many people that are in my general age range that are so enthusiastic about Disney.

I have a few questions that I was hoping could be answered.

What is the Space Mountain question? I've been looking for it all over the boards and on Google and can't find it. I feel a little silly asking this. haha

Did anyone have Cathy for their interviewer and if so, how is her personality?

Is there anyone who chose housekeeping for a roll they would like and if so, what were some of the questions like?

Thanks so much for your help! I might try actually posting on this board more often, it's a really nice place. :)

The Space Mountain question is "what would you do if there was a kid that wanted to ride Space Mountain, but was too short".

Ok well I just did my interview a few hours ago.
I had Rhonda and she was very nice.

Here is a detail breakdown (sorry so long)
To start with she double checked my info like name, address, e-mail etc.
Got my E-presentation code.
Because the computers were down she has go down the list of questions that are on the application like can I work in the US, do I have a driver’s license, have I ever been convicted of a crime etc.
She then asked if I was able to work any time (weekends, holidays), then if I was ok with the pay range which is $7.21 from $8.28 an hour.
She talked about the “Disney look” and asked was I fine with that? Then she asked did I have any tattoos, which I do so I told her yes and were they were on my body. I have 2 on my torso and 2 on my feet they are all covered when I am dressed. She didn’t say anything about them once she knew you couldn’t see them.
Then she wanted to know if I would be willing to do Fall advantage but since I want to do summer classes I told her no.
She asked why I wanted to do the CP. From my answer it came up I had been to the resort a good bit.
She asked me what my favorite park was (my answer was “Without a doubt the magic kingdom” which she laughed a little)
She asked am I enrolled in at least one class?
What is my major?
She talked about the living situation, asking if I ever had roommates. Was I open to living with people from all different cultures and backgrounds? Had I ever lived away from home? Did I feel comfortable being away from home and friend/family?
We then went over the roles I was interested in which were:
1 Photo Pass Photographer
2 Character Attendant
3 Attractions
4 Full service Food and Bev
5 Merchandise
6 Biddi Bobbidi Boutique Hostess
7 House Keeping
She then asked if I was willing to so QSFB which I answered no, Main Entrance Operations and Custodial I said yes to.
She asked me the two positions I was most interested in, which was photopass and character attendant.
For Photopass:
Did I own a camera and what kinds?
What experience with cameras did I have?
Would I be good to carry up to 10 pounds of equipment for up to 8-10 hours?
How would I sale more photo related items to guest? (Up selling)
For Character Attendant:
Why did I want to do this role?
Then she asked if I got Full Service Food and Bev would I be ok learning a new computer system.
Then lastly since most of my job experience is retail, tell her about a time were I had to multitask?

She told me I should hear from them in about two to three weeks, by the end of February.

Sounds like you did well! Congrats!:)

I love the sense of community here too, it's very open and friendly!

I didn't try for Hospitality
Since I will have to work at the Auburn University Hotel here at school for my major I thought it would be cool to try for fields I could only do at disney like photopass and character attendant.
But I am def still interested (dreaming of) being a member of the wedding dream team.

Awesome! That's my dream as well, however unrealistic it may be. Haha. Are you going to try for the PI? I'm hoping to do it once I graduate and have a CP under my belt. Hopefully by 2011 the economy will be in better shape!!!:thumbsup2

Wow, Contratulations to everyone who interviewed today! I loved reading everyone's experience.

I want Transportation, with hope of the Monorail!

That's great! Transportation will be first on my list when I apply. Did you tell your interviewer that this was your top choice? What exactly did you tell her? What kind of questions were you asked?

Thanks!

OMG...me too. I see you're in the Syracuse area I work there. I'm driving too but maybe we could do some stops together or something!

That would be great! Where do you work!? You can PM me if you'd rather not tell the whole board haha! We should definitely talk...I go to SUNY oswego

My interview is Monday at 8pm with Sally. The role I want is Merchandise, but I also picked Costuming and Quick Service Restaurant. Wish me luck :D

Good Luck!!! Having Quick Service down is probably a plus since they have been asking everyone if they would do that!

I just finished my interview! It was quick, only 15 minutes, but I think it went well. I had down Merchandise, Attractions, and Main Entrance Operations. She asked me the Space Mountain question, what I would do if someone wanted something my store didn't have, and how I would promote a good atmosphere welcoming guests to the park. At the end she told me I should know by the end of February. Now we just have to wait and see!
