So I just can't give up the opportunity to go and stay on site for a reasonable price. Also, the bug really bit us hard this time and my DD and I just cannot stop talking about going back. I have not told the kids yet though...will wait until they stop asking and then spring it on them but will give them enough time to be able to prepare. I am thinking of waiting to tell them when they are going back to school, so they have something to look forward to!

Now I can get ideas for what we can wear. I know my kids will be inspired to dress up but I am wondering if anyone does a combination of Disneybounding and Dapper Days - you know dress up like a fancy Minnie Mouse or a fancy Indiana Jones or is the character part of it not really encouraged. I am just wondering if it would be easier to get them involved if they were dressing up dapper but in a character sort of way.

I think this is a really neat change for a return trip - I know it will be busier then but we get up super early and will now be able to use EMH every day we are there. :yay:

Any advice? Is there a DISboard meet up on Dapper Days?

How exciting! We always wanted to go for Dapper Days but hard to get DD away from school. But we did dress up like Dapper Days when we were there for the 60th on July 17th. There's a great store on 17th Ave - Blame Betty - we got our dresses from there (I know we live in the same city :-)). DD also has a red vintage looking dress with white polka dots on it that she picked up at DL a couple of years ago. Along with a headband, she would disneybound as Minnie. During our summer trip, we did disneybounding and it was alot of fun. It's always neat to see others disneybounding. I am sure as the time gets closer, there will be a DISboard meet up. I think that there were some in the past. Have fun planning!

I think it's a great idea to combine Dapper and Disneybound! If I was going to Dapper Day I would try to do that as well! I have always wanted to go to one, but it has just never worked with our schedules. We MIGHT go this fall, thinking about doing either DD or Gay Days in Oct for the room discounts. I'd be happy with either weekend since I've never done DD and we've never been during Halloween. Oh man, just thinking about it makes me want to start planning something!

Have fun!! You will LOVE being onsite!

A lot of people combine the two and do a Dapper Disneybound. It's great! My daughter and I are working on a Steamboat Willie Mickey & Minnie for the day before Spring Dapper Day, and Winnie the Pooh and Piglet dapperbounds for the actual day.

The Dapper Day people do encourage you to not be too costumey, preferring you to focus on dressing 'smart'. But there are so many great outfits that beautifully mix the two!

My friends and I have combined the two a few times! It was a lot of fun. We tend to focus on attractions rather than characters. We did a Haunted Mansion-inspired Dapper Day once, and a Club 33-inspired theme. We were going to make teacup-inspired dresses but we saw another group with the same idea and went a different direction.

That is what I was thinking - focusing more on the colors chosen etc to mimic a character - I saw some cute ideas on the internet such as this for Snow White:

We're going for Spring Dapper Day this year I believe. We're celebrating my daughter's tenth birthday with a surprise trip to Disneyland (We've only ever been to Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line) Her birthday falls on Dapper Day weekend.

We've not decided what we're wearing (Im actually looking now) I'm thinking a 50'sish dress for me to go with the 60th Anniversary. Not exactly DisBound But I saw a really cute vintage dress at a shop that was a full green silk skirt with a plaid top. (Merida)

For my daughter, I found a purple poodle skirt, with Pascal instead of a poodle. I may pair it with a pink blouse with cap sleeves and braid her hair (She's a blonde). (I am not sold on that idea yet, but am leaning towards it)

Thanks for the tip - we will have to check out that store and see what we can find!!

We just happened upon Dapper Days earlier this year. Had no idea it was going on. It was really fun to see all the people dressed up.
Some of the outfits looked hot and uncomfortable. Some of the shoes, ridiculous.

The crowd didn't seem much different than any other time.

They have a great website too! (I also live in the same city lol) Plus they sometimes run online only sales and have free shipping and I believe you can return in store (haven't had to return anything yet so I'm not 100% sure) I also found lots of great stuff on Modcloth - they actually sell a lot of the same brands - though the shipping can get pretty pricey up here and there's almost always duty too. Modcloth has this amazing red skirt with white polka dots that's very 50's. I was thinking about ordering it for a Minnie Mouse bound myself.

Key tip for any Dapper Day: wear comfortable shoes! If you have heels, bring them in a tote bag to wear for photos. Otherwise, make sure whatever shoes you wear all day are broken in and comfortable. Just watching women limp out of the parks at the end of the day made me wince last year!

Last Fall Dapper Day fell on my birthday. It was fun to see so many people all "dappered up" while we dined at Napa Rose. My DH and I have been Annual Passholders for years. We somehow always end up at the park on Dapper Day, but have never dressed up. Totally thinking about doing it this year.
