I don't know if you Yankees have a fall break in the school year since you start school much later than we do but for those that do have a fall break do you like it? This is the second year that we have had a break and it has been so nice. It has allowed us to travel to WDW when the temps are much better and crowds not so bad. I would like to hear your thoughts on the breaks.

BTW we have been in school for over two months now and a break is really needed.

if I had my way, school would be 13 mo a year with no vactions

Boy I am glad it isn't up to you. I can tell you don't teach!
This is what we look like when we havn't had a break in a while:crazy:

no Fall break for us, although school is closed next Monday for Columbus Day ( I'll be working at Jacques Pennay, though:rolleyes: )

I have a feeling that everyone that has a fall break has already left for the parks now. My break is a week later than everyone elses at least that I know of.

Minnesota has a break the 3rd week of October. Lots of MN families with school aged children hit DisneyWorld/Florida during the break.

Our kids are out the 23rd and 24th of October. We have gone to Disney those days in years past, but DH just started a new job in July and has no vacation time yet and I am saving my vacation time for Christmas, but I have to admit, its a nice time to go for a quick trip.

My kids are off Wednesday through Friday. Not this week, but the next one. I like fall break. It's a nice time for a long weekend getaway, but we're staying home this year. Just using the time to finish some jobs around the house.

No Fall break in NY. But we do have off tomorrow for Yom Kippur and next Monday for Columbus day. And after only one month of school I am ready for a break. And I don't teach, but I love having my kids home.

I'm not a Yankee (I'd be considered an Easterner to you;)), but my kids have their first fall break next week. I'm not sure if I like that or not. I liked them starting to school early this year, but I didn't hear anything about the fall break until a couple of days before school started, and it was only mentioned by a coworker in passing.

Our fall break starts the week of the 13th...I can't wait...lots of Disney.

Those of you that get a fall break, do you have any other days out; Columbus day, election day, veterans day?

We get Veteran's Day and then three days at Thanksgiving. before we got the fall break we would go from Labor day until Veteran's Day without a day off. We never got columbus day holiday.

Our kids are off for three days, Oct. 15, 16, 17.

On October 16 we do one of our mini vacations where we go to a motel that has a big swimming pool. We get two connecting suites and go out for dinner and have a good time. We goon Thursday morning and don't come back home again until Sunday.

My girls don't have a fall break, but 2 of their nephews and one of their nieces in the next county over do. One nephews break is a week long and one nephews break is 2 weeks long. Other nieces and nephews in the same county don't receive fall break. I would love for DDs to have a fall break. I know it makes it difficult for my brother to find childcare for his son. We are keeping him 2 of the days, my Mom will keep him a day and my sister will keep him for 2 days.

We go to school on Columbus Day, Veterens Day (always have a big convo) and Election Day. Election Day is my pet-peeve. They keep our schools locked during the day and you have to be buzzed in and go to the office and sign in and out. Election Day, they unlock the doors and just let people come and go all day. I wish they would keep the school locked and just use one room with an outside entrance or better yet one of the churches next to our school. We vote in a church and I can't think of a school in my city that isn't located near a church. (Ok, off my soap box, back to topic) LOL

At college I do!!!
I got here August 23rd and I am going home for a week on October 17th (SOOOO EXCITED!) and I'll be back here on October 25th.
Then I go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas and March Spring Break and then home for the summer in may :)

Where I am from and the school district my MIL works there is no fall break, but they do get off for Columbus Day and Veterans Day, I am not sure about Election Day. Also I think they get off for Yom Kippur and two days at Thanksgiving. Here in Italy at the Department of Defense School there isn't a fall break either. We are off on Columbus Day, Halloween, Veterans Day and two days at Thanksgiving and we have the rest of the week of Veterans Day as half days. I think no matter where you live or what days you get off I think there is a mandatory number of days you have to go to school in a ten month period, I believe this is a national thing for all public schools (not sure about private schools), so if this is the case all public school kids will end up going to school the same number of days in the long run.
