I felt like such an idiot. I took my daughter alone to Disneyland last Saturday as a treat. She has three pesty little brothers who want to tag along, but since she is my only girl I decided to give her (and me) a treat and spend the day a Disney.

Well we had a wonderful lunch and were walking back over to Thunder Mountain when I spotted these great Sheriff Badges in a shop next door to the shooting gallery. I made a bee line for them thinking what a great treat they would be for my little boys. In my excitement I went head first into the boardwalk in front of the store. I fell so hard I broke a bottle of aspirin I had in my purse. Shoes went one way, glasses another. My poor little daughter kept asking if I was okay. Some really nice gentlemen helped me to my feet and found my missing shoe. I was so embarassed. Then I noticed my bleeding arm, so I had to head over to First Aid. The next day I was really sore and my ribs still hurt. I think I may have bruised them.

The only thing that kind of bugged me was the CM in the store who had to have seen my fall never asked me if I was okay. Maybe they have been told not to or something.

We did do a little more after "the fall" but since I was getting pretty sore we had to leave a little early. I do think they should fix that step for blind people like me. :headache:

Ouch!!! I do stuff like that so often that my DH swears I do it on purpose! Frankly, this is why I don't mind pushing the stroller -- I'm more likely to stay upright! Oh dear -- did I say that out loud?

Perhaps the CM didn't see what happened?

One other tip -- ice and one Advil every hour until I feel better works pretty well for me!

Hope you feel better soon.

Katrina

Albort and Glendalais can explain CM rules for guest accidents. They are supposed to do something but I am not sure of the procedure and have had CMs checking on me after one of my falls.

Hope you feel better soon and I bet the ladies at first aid helped out. They are so nice over there.

I dont really recall any "policy" in falls. I guess it goes by each CM's conscious and skills.

As for the CMs in stores, i do not know the entire situation but if a CMs is behind a post, they are not allowed to leave the post, esp behind a cash register.

but im sure, if you go up to a CM and ask for help, they would be glad to point the way toward help or help you any way they can within their powers.

Oh I am not blaming the CM for not saying anything. I know they can't leave their post or whatever. Just thought they might have yelled out "hey you okay Lady".....but maybe they did not see it. No big deal

The ladies in first aid were very nice. My daughter was hoping my nasty fall would equal some fast passes....lol . Nope we only scored some bandaids and an ice pack.

Thanks all, I am on the mend, my ribs are still sore though.

go ride the merry go round. that always makes things a lot better. :D

I am so sorry! I am a grade-A klutz so that sounds exactly like something I would do!

Aren't the ladies at First Aid just the sweetest? I took my DS7 in for a band-aid (non emergency related, his old one had fallen off and he gets a little "sideways" about that kind of thing) and he was given a very cool Nemo band-aid PLUS a waterproof band-aid to go over the top of it PLUS she gave me a back-up to stick in my pocket "just in case." :)

Oh I feel so bad for you! I walked off a curb during one of our trips and twisted the heck out of my ankle.

I've also had two nasty headaches while there. Each time I got one of those magical ice packs from First Aid with the crushed ice in the plastic bag surrounded by the plastic-backed "paper towel"...absolute magic those are. I hope you enjoyed your ice pack as much as I do.

Ah, I think that is so nice of you to go on a mommy and daughter outing to Dl. :)

I am so very sorry to read of your fall. I so dislike falling. Do not feel like an idiot, though, please. Because it really was not your fault, it is something that can just happen, that is why it is called an accident.
I hope that you feel 100% real soon. The CM probably did not see you fall. For I cannot imagine any worker at Dl. not concerning themselves with a guest that has taken a tumble.
I do not work there, and I would help out as best as I could. Matter of fact, I have first responder training, although am rusty. I would like to renew my certificate.

You may want to get your ribs checked out, especially if they are still sore.

Hope all is ok,
Dreams

Oh ouch!!!!! I'm always uber careful walking around Frontierland, the wooden sidewalks tend to worry me a bit. I'm kutzy too and don't want to fall. I hope you're feeling better quickly!!

Gisele, what is in your avatar photo?

It is a photograph of beignets, that was taken at Cafe du Monde in the New Orleans French Market.

I thought that's what they were but wasn't sure. YUM!

We are here at Disneyland too right now and I also had an incident yesterday! I am sure the CM did not see you or otherwise would have helped through my experience. I am so sorry you fell and hope you feel better soon!:goodvibes

We are staying at the Grand Californian and I have to say that I will always from this point on stay at a Disney Hotel.

Here is what happen to me last night...We were waiting for the fireworks show to begin and I starting having really bad, I mean severe abdominal pain. My daughter ran to a CM and got one to assist me. A Disney nurse came with equipment in tow, two other cm stood guarding me so a crowd would not transpire. Before the nurse got there the cm were very attentive and extremely nice! The nurse was knowledgeable, kind and very comforting. She was concerned it was heart related. I was taken by wheelchair to the backstage area where an 5 or so people were waiting for me. They introduced themselves and were going to transport me to a local hospital. They were all very nice and make the whole situation bearable because of their kindness and sensitivity. As they check my vitals, the pain started to subside. I told them I did not need to go to the hospital, and if they could take us back to the hotel I think I would be OK. They were reluctant but kindly agreed, reassuring me if I would need them later tonight for any reason they would be there at my hotel. When you call 911 form Disney hotels they answer the calls.

They drove us back to the hotel and not more than fifteen minutes later, the serve pain stuck again. This time I was begging send the ambulance. Well 6 people showed up to our room and transported me to the hospital.

My daughter rode in the ambulance with me and my husband and son followed in our car. We arrive at 11:00PM at the hospital and around 1:00AM I asked if someone could pick up our kids 17, 19 and take them back to the room since it seems the problem might be Gall Bladder related and not heart attack. Disney picked them up and took them back, on the way asking them if they were hungry and wanted to stop at a fast food place to grab something. When they return to the room a CM called to make sure they were back and safe!

My emergency turned out to be Gall Stones! Last night in all the trauma I really felt as if I were a guest in the home of Disney. I told me husband I felt as if we were not alone but as if Disney was in this too with us! They treated me with kindness and concern, they took care of my kids, they called in the morning to ask how I was feeling and if they was anything they could do to make my stay more comfortable. I asked for a wheelchair, because even though I was not in severe pain, I had a dull pain in which walking would not help the situation. I received a wheelchair that could be used anywhere in DL, DCA, DDD, and in the hotel.

I have heard many criticisms about Disney but my experience has been when the chips are down Disney is right there to assist! I appreciated their kindress and efforts which made a difficult situation more bearable.

Oh no! I'm so glad you're ok though. I can sympathize with the ribs. When I was a freshman in high school I wiped out on my bike (I think I hit a stick in the road) and landed flat on my back very hard! My dad, who is a doctor, had to do a nerve block because the pain was so severe. Nothing was broken, but OUCH, did it hurt! If you develop a cough to to immediate care!

I'm so sorry to hear that you have gall stones  but glad to hear that you received wonderful care. I get kidney stones all of the time and there's nothing like heat and walking to make it so much worse. Unfortunately the pain attacks are so unpredictable. Get better!

I sure am sorry to hear about your health situation. And what a time to strike too, why cannot gall stones and other maladies only occur when one is at home? It would be nice anyway, if it could always work out that way. ;)
It is so nice to hear about the wonderful way that Disney treated you. Most definitely very concerned, thoughtful, and extremely helpful.
I hope that you are feeling 100% now. Those pesky gall stones! They should know better than to interfere with one's Disney experience! ;) :)

Oh my goodness!!! I'm so glad you're OK and so sorry about your sudden illness in DL!!! I'm glad they took such good care of you as well. WOW!
