Fall 2016 planning (continuation of 2016 Free Dining Watch)

For those of you looking for ADRs: in case some of you didn't know, there are threads on another section of the DIS where people give a heads-up before they drop their ADRs, so you can coordinate with them to pick them up.

http://disboards.com/forums/disney-dining-reservations.180/

Once our family sorts through our reservations, we'll be dropping some for September, so I'll be posting those there (unless one of you wants them).

@Kelly Anne - I know you have a large group traveling during the same time as we are in September. I may have ADRs for you for some of your stay - you can message me if interested.

[Sorry if everyone already knows this exists.]

Just be VERY sure to read the rules on those threads. And follow them exactly. But yeah it's a great way to pick up some ADRs, or pass them on to a fellow Dis-er :)

THANK YOU!! I was dumbfounded like why the heck is it anyone's business??? I told my mom this situation ( she is going with us) and that same night she went and unfollowed her. Because my IL's were extending their little "rule" to her and our family friend who is going....Um last time I checked they aren't the king and queen of my family. And I am not telling other people in my group "well my IL's say we can't post, so we better not anger them."

You know now you're obligated to post 2x the normal amount. Right?!

Good news lady, there's an unfollow button. HIT IT! Rude. rude. rude.

My IL's were for sure expecting an invite after our first trip. NOPE. I would rather rip off my toenails then take a vacation with them. The look in my MIL's face when I told her we booked for this fall again was priceless (and I may be a bit heartless, it's true...)

Ugh don't get me started on my MIL!!! She commented after our last trip that next time we go we would have to bring her along so my husband and I wouldn't have to ride any rides separately (our daughter was only 22 months this past trip and it was just the 3 of us.) Ummm no you're not coming with us. There are a lot of things I would rather do than go on a trip with her especially when the trip is for my birthday. She is always complaining about the heat and I know she wouldn't be able to handle the walking. Plus she wouldn't have payed for her own room so she would have expected to stay in ours and I would gouge my own eyes out before I let that happen. She doesn't know yet that we are going back in December and that my parents most likely are coming with us. I'm not looking forward to when she finds out either :duck:

For the IL's

Let alone go on a big HAPPY vacation with us.

Thank you will keep that in mind, I do have to figure out where everyone would like to go before I start booking just in case...

We just found Pop for standarad rate with FD, but since we are using a BB back from last year with ticket prices It would cost 500 more to get a standard room. Hmm. We shall be keeping the preferred room thank you.

I need some advice on the fastpass + in the Disney app. Currently when I go into the app it gives me the option to create a fast pass party. However when I select my family members it says that no tickets are attached to them, however it is all linked in the app with our package. I have rung Disney and they claim that I will not be able to enter the fast pass area until 60 days, which I understand - however I have read on other sites that people can still access their calender in the fastpass section, but obviously I can't. I hope this make sense. I basically want to know if other people can get past creating a fastpass family in the app.

The only thing about the fast pass that we have been able to do is select the color of the bands that we want.

So, have you tried to create your fastpass group?
I tried this and got the same thing you did. I poked around in the mega Fast Pass+ thread and they said that was normal - theoretically everything should magically work on our 60 days out. So that's a relief.

Thanks, I had visions of being locked out at 60 days because of some set up error. I don't think my family could cope with another episode of me screaming at my iPad like I did when trying to book free dining and it wouldn't work.

Just a fair warning on looking into flights to gander around prices....60 minutes did a story (probably over 2 months ago) airline companies can see people looking into certain flights and track how you are looking for them online and will purposefully raise the prices....I put 3 flights saved into google flights before FD and reservations made. All 3 of those flights (United, Delta, American) all went up in price by at least $120 a person. Finally got Southwest times up and tickets $280 a person (plus 2 free checked bags!!!!!). And the time of flights anywhere else would have been easily $390-$450 a person...especially this far out. Could not have found a better deal!!
This may be true, but I'm one of those check every day and sometimes a couple of times a day and have always found a good deal over time and watch the prices drop on T-Th and go up again. I use Kayak, used to use Orbitz until they stopped flexible dates. Often cross reference prices with the actual airline site and no difference in prices. Just my experience doing this for the past 5-6 years. Good luck to everyone with their tickets. Got my lowest flight per person I have ever got since starting my trips to Disney....except one time $30 less out of an airport 2 hours away.

Thanks. That's good to know. We're going to take our time. It might be fun.

Life's a journey, not a destination.....Right??? At least that's what I keep telling myself.

I'm a little late to the party, but I just wanted to offer encouragement about the drive. We drive every year, and it's a 10-12 hour drive, depending on how many stops we make and how insane I-4(?) around Orlando is.

My kids are so looking forward to the drive! They are already talking about how excited they are, and they can't wait to see what kind of crazy stuff dad does this time. :lovestruc (My Dh is a nut, and always breaks out some weird voice, act or something to entertain us. It's definitely one of the memorable parts of the trips. :D)

My kids are older, but just wanted to offer up trying to make the drive as part of the vacation is a great thing to do.

I can't imagine flying! :crazy2::scared::car: But that's mainly because I'm a scaredy cat. :o:rolleyes1

Thank you! My kids are 12 and 9 so they're old enough to occupy themselves and they're actually looking forward to it. I just hope the novelty doesn't wear off on the drive back home.

My dad was the same way growing up! I still remember his corny Disney jokes like "hey guys remind me to get gas before we get to Jafar down the road" :rotfl2:

Dining plan question. We have free dining starting sept 1 but due to air price I added August 31 as room only. All at CBR. When will the dining credits be activated? Do I need to go back to the check in desk sept 1 morning?
