Fall 2016 planning (continuation of 2016 Free Dining Watch)

I need some advice on the fastpass + in the Disney app. Currently when I go into the app it gives me the option to create a fast pass party. However when I select my family members it says that no tickets are attached to them, however it is all linked in the app with our package. I have rung Disney and they claim that I will not be able to enter the fast pass area until 60 days, which I understand - however I have read on other sites that people can still access their calender in the fastpass section, but obviously I can't. I hope this make sense. I basically want to know if other people can get past creating a fastpass family in the app.

If you have a tickets NOT part of a package, you can "practice" with fastpasses in a 30 day window. But when you're in a package including rooms then the fastpasses window will magically appear when you are 60
Days out from your check in day. I was anxious about it last trip but it really worked perfectly and wasn't too difficult.

Good news lady, there's an unfollow button. HIT IT! Rude. rude. rude.

My IL's were for sure expecting an invite after our first trip. NOPE. I would rather rip off my toenails then take a vacation with them. The look in my MIL's face when I told her we booked for this fall again was priceless (and I may be a bit heartless, it's true...)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way about my MIL. She's a really sweet lady but she drives me crazy. My husband and she can't get along and the kids never behave when she is around. And yet my husband wants to take her to Disney so she can experience it. NO! Not happening! NEVER!

Dining plan question. We have free dining starting sept 1 but due to air price I added August 31 as room only. All at CBR. When will the dining credits be activated? Do I need to go back to the check in desk sept 1 morning?

You will have to go back to the front desk to check-out/in I believe and that's when your dining credits will be activated. They will try to keep you in the same room but it's not always possible so be prepared to possibly switch rooms.

#Ditto

I literally am sooooo over that myself. Why do people judge like that??? It's mean!!

Also... "why do you go to Disney EVERY YEAR??"

It gets old and makes me sad.

However....We need to not let them bring us down! We are going to Disney World. In the words of Taylor Swift.... "Haters gonna hate hate hate ...." :dance3:

Part of my family thinks I'm crazy to go to Disney (land or world), whenever possible, but like to gamble twice a week, eat out at least once a day, smoke, (not judging, but speaking monetarily), etc.

Now, suddenly, some of them want me to plan them a Disneyland trip, lol.

You could always go to the library and use their computers. Different IP.

Thank you! My kids are 12 and 9 so they're old enough to occupy themselves and they're actually looking forward to it. I just hope the novelty doesn't wear off on the drive back home.

On the way home, there's not the same excitement of course, but, usually we talk about the trip A LOT!! What was your favorite park, meal, toy, store ride. We do this for each park and for DS. Helps our trip last a little longer. I love driving except for the time it takes.

Or instead of the library McDonald's for coffee or another WiFi hot spot. If you use one device from home to look and another to buy, you're still using the same IP address, correct? Or do you look using data and switch over?

Dining plan will not be active till Sept. 1st. You will have to pay OOP for any food that 1st day. When you check in, you could ask them to please keep you in the same room when you start the new reservation, so you don't have to move your stuff. We were able to stay, but it will depend on availability, so just request it when you arrive. Your tickets are also tied to your package, so if you wanted to use them on your arrival day, you would have to get them activated at Guest Relations at a park or Disney Springs.

I'm a little late to the party, but I just wanted to offer encouragement about the drive. We drive every year, and it's a 10-12 hour drive, depending on how many stops we make and how insane I-4(?) around Orlando is.

My kids are so looking forward to the drive! They are already talking about how excited they are, and they can't wait to see what kind of crazy stuff dad does this time. :lovestruc (My Dh is a nut, and always breaks out some weird voice, act or something to entertain us. It's definitely one of the memorable parts of the trips. :D)

My kids are older, but just wanted to offer up trying to make the drive as part of the vacation is a great thing to do.

I can't imagine flying! :crazy2::scared::car: But that's mainly because I'm a scaredy cat. :o:rolleyes1
It's about a 12 - 14 hour drive for us depending on who we are traveling with and what the weather and traffic are like. Last year we were only about 45 min to a hour into our trip when traffic stopped. We sat on the interstate for 2 hours :scared1:. I'm the only one in my family that would rather drive than fly. I mean who doesn't like to play the license plate game? It's cheaper than flying (which I to have a fear of) and I get to stop at the Florida Welcome Center (please don't judge me). My mom said if she goes back she wants to fly, to which I replied ok Mickey will pick you up and we'll see you when we get there.:D

On the way home my kids can't wait to get out their souvenirs and break open the snacks we picked up before leaving. That gives me a good hour before they start in with "how much longer".

I drive to Disneyland being only 6 hours away but flights are also expensive to DW from Arizona. We take the red eye on thursday arrive friday morning and go to the hotel and drop off the bags and then straight to the park. Back at hotel around noon for an hour nap and on to the rest of the day.

I will not be arriving til 8 or 9 at night. If they can't keep us in the same room what do I do with my luggage from check out to check in? I didn't even think about that! Could the activate my tickets first thing in the morning. I keep checking to add dining to that day so there isn't all this confusion. So far no luck.

You just take your luggage to the front desk and they will take it to your new room. We had to switch rooms. I think we were even able to leave it in the room and they moved it for us.

You have my sympathy. Just put on some Disney tunes and turn it up. They' ll either enjoy it or take a long nap. Of course after 20 hours I would need a nap and maybe therapy :faint: , but you'll be fine.
Last time I drove from Oregon to Montana and then down to Arizona I put on Harry Potter book on tape and it got me there.

So I'm a little frustrated with this free dining experience. We booked our trip for 8/13 - 8/21 in the normal rooms that sleep 5 at POR. Then free dining was announced for Disney visa card holders for 8/14 to 10/1. I was like great. Call up and our room was not part of the deal and if i want the deal i have to stay in the Royal rooms. I'm like ok no problem. However since i arrive on the 8/13 i can't have free dining because i get there a day too soon. So now i have to book a room only reservation on 8/13 and check out and check back in on 8/14. Still not a Huge deal but there is a chance i have to switch rooms. Plus i am saving $836.00

The main issue now is that i have to activate my tickets a day early because they are on my 8/14 to 8/21 reservation. I guess i can't use fast passes on the first day since i don't technically have a ticket.. I also have to pay out of pocket the first day so I'm basically losing about 250.00 dollars that i am saving with switching to free dining ( I have chef mickey booked that first day). So I'm now saving 836 - roughly 250.00 (4 of us). So it is still worth it. They just make you jump through all these hoops all because i am arriving 1 day early.

Sorry about the rant.
