Fall 2012 Professional Internships

I was told to expect the background check information, which came yesterday. Other than that, I was told I would hear from my location about 2 weeks before arrival. I've started the search for housing just to get an idea of what all is out there.

Sounds pretty similar to what I heard. Although I got a call yesterday telling me that I would be working as an Attractions Manager at Hollywood Studios!! I was surprised to receive a call as early as I did, but that is really all I was told. He told me the area that I would be in, and who my direct supervisor is, but the rest of the information would come closer to my arrival date.

I have also looked at housing. It was pretty easy for me to find a place, because I am planning on turning Disney into my career, so I didn't have to find a 6 month lease. I found a place less than a mile from WDW. I was told by casting to look at places close to the park, they tend to be the nicest because they are competing with other places in the area to get cast members.

Good luck on your search!

I got an email yesterday thinking it was a rejection letter, but it ended up to be a request for me to fill out a form named "Application DWSS Pro Intern FL"

It was basically a bunch of background questions asking if I will submit my fingerprints for background check if hired.

So I guess I am still in the run. Anyone else got the same email recently?

I did the same exact thing. I received the email thinking it was a rejection only to find that they wanted background info and such. From the people I've talked to that have done a PI before it is definitely a good thing. However, I've also seen on hear and on the Facebook page that it doesn't guarantee that you will get an offer. I'm also going for the Finance/Accounting PI. I had my final interview last Thursday and received the email on Tuesday afternoon. Good luck!

It seems like the finance people are getting their emails for background checks and such...I haven't gotten mine yet. You all have me anxious now... :goodvibes

Has anyone hear back from or applied for Industrial Engineering/Workforce Management PI or Costuming/Entertainment Project Analyst PI? Just had my initial phone interviews this week and I think I did alright. I've ne er gone through the Disney hiring process before though so I'm feeling nervous and I'm not sure what to expect. The waiting game is indeed agonizing.

Not sure about Eng Management, but when I applied for Theme Park Ops Management I had my phone interview at the beginning of February and didn't hear back about a second interview until the second week in March. So I waited over a month to hear anything. So don't be worried if you haven't heard anything yet.

In terms of the hiring process for management internships, it is very competitive. I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I have heard they only accept between 12-20 people and they get around 500 applicants, again I am not sure how much truth that holds.

The first step is the phone interview. After that they will have a face to face interview in Florida. If you can't make it to Florida they will over to have another phone interview, or an interview via FaceTime if you have that ability. After that point if you are accepted you will be asked to fill out a background check form, then you will be called and offered the position.

Good Luck to you!!

Has anyone received two of the background check emails? I got one last week and submitted it. Then I received the same email again this morning and filled it out again. I called in to the internship office to see if this is normal, and they said that since I was applying to Anaheim internships only that they do their own background check. That might explain the double request. She also said that the Finance and Accounting internships are still being decided, like most of you other finance applicants have figured out.

Just waiting to hear something I guess, they said we would know at the end of March/ beginning of April....

Nope. I only got one last week, and I am applying to Florida only. My interviewer said I should hear something at the end of March, but all I got was that background check email, I guess that counted as "something." Also, my internet was on and off the evening when I was trying to submit the form, so the first time when I clicked 'submit' it went to a page that says 'check internet connect' so I did it again and hopefully the second time went through. Should I do it again just in case or will that be too repetitive?

If it gave you a confirmation page, once should be enough. Even if there was an error, that confirmation page is proof that the system told you it went through. You should be fine...

...end of March beginning of April? Both of those have come and gone and I still have not gotten even a background check email. I got asked for my transcripts a month ago, but that's it. It makes me nervous that I haven't gotten the background check email yet. The only solace is the fact that April is here and the official deadline for all decisions for every internship is May 1st, so presumably "it will all be over soon". I've been praying on the regular that things are in my favor

Until then... :surfweb:

I just got an email today to set up a second interview for the Alumni-only Traditions Intern PI! Crossing my fingers, it should happen before Saturday.

That's weird. I personally did not get asked to email in my transcript cause I uploaded it when I applied. However, from what I've heard, usually they'll call you to schedule the second-round interview after they asked for your transcript, unless you don't meet their GPA requirement, which is reflected on your transcript. Other than that, it sounds a little bit weird to me.

After filling out the background check form, did any one get an auto reply saying that your form has been received? Thanks

For you and the rest of you who got that email about a background check, that is good news. I got mine about a week after my face to face interview for the Management Internship. It was only a few days later that I got a call offering me the position. I haven't heard of anybody who has gotten that email and not been offered the job. So that is good news!!

I am so excited for everyone who has received emails asking for additional info (transcripts, background checks, second interviews)!! I haven't heard anything back since my first interview and follow up phone call three days later (Feb 23). Hopefully I will also move to the next stage - still in interview stage for my 2 internships and in progress for others. But I still have hope - keeping the magic in my heart!

It just automatically saves the information somewhere. You won't get an auto reply. If you really want to make sure they got it, you can call and they can verify it for you.

Aww...thanks for all the response. They said they got it and I will hear from them pretty soon. Can't wait to see what it will turn out.

I didn't upload my transcript when I applied, so that's probably why they asked for it. So technically I guess I'm in the same boat as the person above who hasn't gotten any additional news since February.

April is moving along nicely, so just 3 more weeks and we all should have our yea's or neh's.

Unless the vast majority of candidates are still in waiting, most of the responses that I have seen here and on Facebook are that people are actually getting accepted for at least one of their internships. I think I've seen maybe two people say they didn't get any position. I'm sure there are many factors to be considered in that, but it seems like a positive sign. Keep hope alive everyone!

I love reading/hearing about anyone who gets accepted and it really gives me hope that I'll receive a call too! The best source for me has been on FB because we receive positive news almost as soon as someone receives a call :goodvibes

I love Disboards and everyone on here is also so positive - I hope we all get accepted for our dream positions!

Last semester I received that same email and went NLIC for the two positions I had applied for. This semester I have received the same email 3x - each time coinciding with a 2nd interview for 3 positions I applied for - all PIs. Two of those have gone NLIC. The 3rd one is still IS. don't want to be all gloomy or disheartening but I wanted to share my experience. Just because you get that email does not mean you will get an offer.
