Today I woke up and went to Animal Kingdom for the morning. I actually just missed rope drop, so got Fast Passes for the Safari, before going to see the first showing of the Festival of the Lion King. Camp Minnie-Mickey is a ghost town first thing in the morning, as everyone else in the park is making a rush to the rides, and there are many characters, I saw; Meeko, Pocahontas, Miss Bunny, Chip, Dale, Goofy, Donald, Mickey, and Minnie, with no wait to see any of them.
After the show, I headed to Africa, rode Kilimanjaro Safari, and then was ready for my lunch at Tusker House. For those of you who don't know Tusker House used to be a counter service restaurant, it then switched over to a table service buffet, including a character meal at breakfast, which I had been to a couple times before, and highly recommend, but this trip I wanted to try lunch.
As I had the first lunch time available, I was seated immediatly, and greeted by my server, who was very pleasant and funny. Every time I've eaten here the servers have always been exceptionally entertaining.
There was so much to choose from on the buffet, though I'm glad I ate here before I ate at Boma, because though was a good meal, Boma blew it out of the water.
I don't remember the actual names of most of this stuff, but there were pasta salads, cous cous salads, and an apple and blue cheese salad. I really liked the blue cheese salad, everything else was good, but it all tasted very similar, and I can't pick anything that was better then the rest. I'm not saying they were bland, they weren't, they were all just seasoned very similary. The fried plantain I did not like, but I've always been very picky when it comes to plantains. The green beans were good, I thought the hummus was very good. I loved the piece of salmon I had, and judging from how often it had to be replenished, a lot of other people did too.
The desserts were; chocolate cake with chocolate filling, which was good, but nothing special, bread pudding, which is the same as they serve at breakfast, it's so yummy, cherry-apple cobbler, which was all right, it had that canned pie filling taste to it, which it probably was, but I think I'm spoiled on home made pies, baklava, which was very good, chocolate-raspberry mousse, which was good, but a little bland, not a huge raspberry flavor, and a chocolate-pecan bar, which was good.
Overall I like Tusker House, but I'd probably only eat here again if I was with someone who absolutly did not want to leave the park to eat, otherwise I'd go to Boma, very similar, but much better. Breakfast here is the better choice.
